Summer Gamefest 2024: Mai and Elena Revealed for SF6!

All right, this just in from the as of this writing still-ongoing Summer Gamefest- the Four upcoming characters for Season 2 have been unveiled. Via a mostly animated trailer, which I first thought was for a mobile or spinoff game. But its for Streetfighter 6 all right, and the lineup is half expected, half WTF.

On the expected side, M.Bison will make his return. Then the popular Capoeira Princess, Elena also will be coming to the delight of her fans.

But the other two will make your head spin- TERRY BOGARD and MAI SHIRANUI are joining Streetfighter 6! Yep, Season 2 will see two Guest Characters from Fatal Fury. The wild part here is- Mai will be REAL BOUT MAI- which means she is wearing her 'barefoot' footguards! THIS is pretty much why I am pretty happy right now instead of being sad and depressed that we are not seeing Makoto. Best version of Mai in SF6 with RE Engine graphics? YES please!

As for Elene, she is clearly older, wiser but still beautiful- and wearing a new outfit with sandals. However, it is pretty sure that she'll have her classic outfit back as an alternate, so no worries.

The bad news is, it looks like Mai is the Last Character, so we won't be seeing her anytime soon. I am hoping this is actually not the case, hoping against hope she and Elena and earlier. But they actually showed Bison with an ingame character model, so he is obviously going to be the first. Oh well. Mai and Elena are worth waiting for..

UPDATE: Apparently Mai is slated for Winter 2025, while Elena is for Spring 2025. Elena is apparently the last fighter, so this means that Mai should release sometime in January to March 2025, with Elena coming in Q2 2025 (roughly the same time this year for Akuma). A bit of weird wording in the release dates, but that should make more sense. Bison is releasing very soon, with Terry probably coming after in Q3-early Q4 2024.

The Bison trailer is out, and the reborn Master of Shadaloo joins the roster this coming June 26! That is pretty amazing given that Akuma just released a couple of weeks ago- perhaps the SF devs are making up for the relatively long waits in between the Season 1 character releases. Hopefully we'll have this quicker pace as we work out way to Mai and Elena in the first half of 2025. Take care, Everyone!
