Upgrade Complete! New GPU In the House

All right, came back from the trip to the Outside World and brought back our CPU with a new graphics card- an NVidia RTX 4060. Sounds amazing, but it really isn't a huge leap- but its a good-sized jump. While it is a 40 Series card, it's apparently not even better than the best 30 Series GPUs (which are not available anyway). Yep, I've seen reviews on Youtube left and right bashing it and calling it bad, but honestly, its still an upgrade regardless for someone coming from an RTX 2060. Aside from that, I run my games in 1080p, not yet trying for resolutions larger, and we're still not at the point where I'll be posting 4K KO vids (something to shoot for I guess).

My goal was to upgrade with the best available GPU, and I got it- and it does make my games run better now- particularly in SF6, intros and outros now play smoothly instead of going slower and out of sync of the audio. Gameplay seems better. This will surely have an effect on my other games as well, and let me play newer titles that are coming out (and hopefully I'll have a much better time with the Elden Ring DLC coming tomorrow).

I did have the option to go all out and basically purchase an all-new PC, which would have cost me perhaps $2000, but would have given me what could be considered a high end gaming PC. But right now, it didn't feel that I needed it, and while I could afford it, I didn't like the idea of just shelving my current PC and also the prospect of the busy work to get things going on the new PC.

TLDR, I can't currently justify the cost of getting a killer new PC atm, when all my current needs can be gamely provided for with what I have, improved with a new GPU. That said, when I feel that my rig is slowing down and quality suffering, I'll consider going for the big upgrade. Maybe next year? We'll see. In any case, I'm just happy right now to see Baldur's Gate loading the Lower City so fast now. Anyway, just an update- time to move on. Stay tuned for more Barefoot KOs to come.
