VF5 REVO is... Disappointing?
Added 2025-01-27 20:29:27 +0000 UTCFirst impressions- barebones as hell. Virtua Fighter 5 REVO has little in the way of any single player content. I mean, I'm not asking for a World Tour or Quest Mode (I am sure they're saving that for VF6), but at the very least give us a VS CPU where we can set up a fight between characters of our choosing.
But nope- if you play offline by yourself, the only way is Arcade Mode, and there's not even a way to fight every other fighter. It seems you fight a set ladder of opponents, same enemy and stage each time. If you choose the Swimsuit (which is chosen at the Character Select as one of the Bonus Outfits), your opponents will all be wearing their swimsuits as well.
So right off the bat, no way to setup girl on girl bikini matches, which is so annoying. I am hoping maybe VS CPU can be added via CE or mods. The Swimsuits seem tacked on at the last minute (still, at least they're fine).
The only bright spot is the possibility of mods and CE adding what Sega has failed to provide. And, well, VF5 still has some really nice KO poses in there- just a matter of being able to capture them. So I guess its a bit of a wait and see.
But right now... DISAPPOINTED! So glad Mai is coming in a week or so...

Yes, fortunately Tekken 8 has VS CPU and Super Ghost Battle if you want to set up specific match ups. T8's biggest flaws were the crappy feet models (which we fixed) and the lack of a Poser.

2025-01-28 09:20:16 +0000 UTCAbout 18 years later and still no vs CPU. Also, the bikinis in Final Showdown were so much better and had a variety of colors. Funny how I've seen people defend Tekken 7 not having vs CPU, it's ridiculous. Does Tekken 8 at least have one?

2025-01-28 09:13:10 +0000 UTCThey're surely putting all their effort and resources into the new VF. This is basically a stopgap remaster. We can only hope that mods and at least a freecam will be made available soon. Somehow we'll get some goodies from it. :P
