UPDATE: Well, thankfully the 'Modpocalypse' that came with the Elena patch has quickly been solved. Aside from a quick and easy fix being made available pretty much immediately (see below for details), individual modders have been updating their mods. But best of all, the essential FluffyQuack Mod Manager (which everyone should be using) has been updated to apply the necessary fix to mods as well. So update your FQMM and resume enjoying SF6 and new babe, Elena.
Well, okay, not really.
But with the Elena Update for Streetfighter 6 earlier today came a bit of a Modpocalypse, the likes of which hasn't been seen for eons (or at least many months). That is, the patch straight up broke a TON of mods. Bunches of them. Pretty much most of TheMightyNoob and ItsBOO's mods were affected, along with many oldies. I don't really know what the cause it, apparently some texture files were affected that caused the mods to cease working or go glitchy with weird textures.
Some mods though, are like some lucky people during the Pandemic- they never got sick. So there are quite a few essential mods that still are standing- these include the Barefoot Classic Cammy and C1 Chun-Li mods, pretty much all the Barefoot AKI mods I have. Oh, and Mai came out with at least a couple of mods- her KOF13 and Microkini mods- unscathed.
However, a lot broke, and at the Character Select screen, if you chose a character with an affected mod, they would either appear with weird textures (but still work) or they would not appear at all- at which point the game is basically stuck on that screen and you'll probably have to turn off the game and reset.
HOWEVER, incredibly enough, a Fix for this problem just suddenly appeared- posted on our discord by a user, in the form of an executable file that you place in your Mod folder (inside Fluffyquack Mod Manager). You will then need to unzip or unrar any affected mods (and extract the files to correspondingly named folders). Once all the stricken mods are decompressed, all you need to do is click on the executable and let it do its magic. In literally a second or so, it will do its thing (a black box will appear for a moment) and you're done. At which point you can test the mods if they now work. Once tested, its best to put the now-fixed versions of the mods in RAR or Zip form.
Yeah, that's a wall of text but its actually not hard at all. I've included the executable here as a DL, but if you're wary of just downloading just any file from the internet, just keep your antivirus on. But its safe, I fixed my mods with it and I am so relieved. Yeah, it took quite a while (because SF6 takes so much time to load after ever mod testing).
Anyway, long story short- mods died, but then mods came back alive. Shouldn't be a huge problem, and modders will surely be updating their work on their own. But if you want to do something quick and easy to fix mods kicked to the ground by Elena's arrival, the solution is here. That said, I got to clean up my SF6 mod folder a bit, rediscovered some sexy mods that I need to use right away, and yeah, Elena is here! Stay tuned for barefoot action and KOs with the newest World Warrior Babe soon. In the meantime, enjoy the screenshot with a pretty hot unconscious Manon (yeah we'll be seeing her in action in that outfit soon...).
