Tekken 8: Miary Zo is... Ancient Ogre Reborn?

Well, well, well. EVO France's Top 8 came and brought with it the gameplay trailer for Miary Zo, the final character for Tekken 8 Season 2. The quite lengthy trailer runs for almost 5 minutes, including some story as well as showing what this new fighter is all about.

But I gotta say- as much as it showed, it only gave way to much more questions. So Miary Zo (apparently pronounced 'Mariz') is given the title 'Fighting God Reborn', so apparently she has inherited the powers of Ancient Ogre in some way. So those thinking she'd be just about the Moraingy fighting style of Madagascar are sadly mistaken. Apart from an initial segment where she seems to use some kickboxing mixed with animal-type movements (wall jumping/kicking attacks), as the trailer continues we see other abilities.

We see her at one point in some sort of magical armor or costume armed with a pole or staff, which she uses to launch herself with attacks or evade lows. So, some pole-dancing mixed with martial arts is pretty cool- and sexy. But then, at the final third she reveals her Ogre powers which apparently is similar to Zafina's Azazel abilities.

So we have Miary using projectiles or ranged magical type attacks, flying and doing some pretty wild stuff, so we got another super-powered fighter like Clive going to be causing havoc among the puny humans.

On the other hand, she's really cute (kinda like a cross between Soul Calibur's Talim and Christie Monteiro) and she seems barefoot in all her outfits shown. So looks-wise we got a winner here. Gameplay-wise, I need answers. What's with the multiple fighting styles? How do we switch among them? Are they stances? We need to know these things!

Well, more info may be coming via the Tekken X account, or in the days and weeks ahead. Fortunately we don't have that long to wait- Miary has been given a release date of December 2, 2025.

Most annoying thing? She has a KO winpose with the loser on the ground, and AGAIN they're lying facedown. UGH. I hope she has another one, with them face up, but whatever. Looking forward to Miary when she arrives before Christmas, but honestly- next Season I need more grounded non-magic fighters like Julia and Kunimitsu...
