Yea your right it is shallow. I just can't get over how simp/cringe it was for him at the start of season 2 to nervously try to tell Emilia that Rem confessed to him and that he wasn't interested. Like why does she need to know that? I still cringe thinking of that scene.

Saying he's "cringe" and a "simp" feels a bit shallow in context of what the show is trying to accomplish, like saying "Forrest Gump was pretty dumb and cringe".

Subaru has to figure out 'what the hell is going on' and 'how the hell am I supposed to get past this'. Plus it introduces a bunch of new concepts in the world that were glossed over in the first season. I think by the end of the first half you have a good idea whats going on, but on a per episode basis, there is basically another 10 questions per episode you get. Character motivations are another big one.

Furthermore Subaru just noticed how similar the situations are (in terms of self loathing and low self worth), so he used what he knew helped him in that situation.

Emilia's cloak has a spell that prevents recognition, you can see the flashbacks of her wearing it a lot when she is with Subaru. Considering the crap she has to face it makes sense that she has that cloak. Betelgeuse is so dramatic. From Subaru buttering him up, to him creepily flying, I just think he always takes the scene he is in. Another one of my favorite endings, Julius calling Subaru his friend. What else is there to say, love seeing how everyone's attitude changes towards Subaru. Good to see them in a different light. Episode 25: Julius is such a bro. As he stabs Betelgeuse, he's like 'yeah Subaru did this'. It's very brief, but Otto has the ability to hear and talk to animals and plants. Which comes in super clutch. I think Betelgeuse actually is a great villain cause he is what Subaru could have become. In love with the idea of doing something for love. Similar to Emilia, the witch rejects Betelgeuse, but he still presses on. 'for love'. Btw, Subaru wrote 'the end' or something like that in Betelgeuse gospel. The gospel is like a vague telling of future events. I consider it symbolic, but some people do theorize it might not be. While I still think Rem is best girl, the last scene is precious. It's really sad to see how low Emilia's self esteem is due to her resemblance of the witch. I also think Subaru rips off a bit of Rem's speech lol. I really love that Subaru stays true to himself and Emilia doesn't just immediately fall in love with Subaru, even if she appreciates Subaru's feelings. There were a lot of points they could have ended it, but I think that's the best they could have left it considering the circumstances. The show had the potential to never get a season 2, so it's good to end at a satisfying part. Also I really do thing 'That's what the story is all about' Subaru struggling for his happy ending in this brutal world. Can't wait for you to continue onto season 2. I personally think Season 2 is better, but it's definitely more confusing so you'll have to have some patience for it.
