Shield Hero 20 & 21 Reaction + Review

You're soft, I definitely still wanted Myne to die XD. From a writing perspective I think the real reason they didn't was actually because of Raftalia. When he learns about her actual slave background and STILL doesn't kill that dude. If he had then going forward things about how they relate to each other don't quite mash well.

I have to disagree, this changes things in Naofumi's character that conflict with his character further down the line. Like just next season he will suddenly be completely ok with killing certain people. While Naofumi doesn't delight in killing he isn't really opposed to killing enemies and he just loves personally delivering "Karmic justice", so him interrupting the execution is going completely OOC. He wanted their execution and the Queen talked him out of it using the political consequences it would have. I mean sure it works if you just see this one anime season in isolation, but once a second season comes out or you take a look at the future in the source material it creates inconsistencies in Naofumi's character.

Yeah the song from the battle with the Pope is from the first OP in the show. Once you finish the show it would be cool to see your reaction to the OPs and EDs as they are bangers. Also Kevin Penkin pops off with the sound/music direction in this show. It is soo good at setting the mood.

I prefer the anime's adaptation tbh, it's more congruent with Naofumi's personality and demonstrates through adversity that the shield hero wasn't going to change who he was because of bitch & trash's depravity. Additionally, if you want to refer to the source material than I think the ln is what you should be telling ppl to read, as the manga is as much as adaptation as the anime IIR... not all changes are bad though, especially if they enhance what was originally their which is what I think the anime does for shield hero in this instance.

that's definitely way worse than instant death by a beheading, sheesh lol. honestly if that person didn't do the equivalent of all that torture ish to innocent ppl themselves then I couldn't suggest all that for them as a punishment, idk. I mean it's 1 thing to not feel sorry for scumbags aftermath comeuppance & another to deliberately demand they get tortured like that or do it myself, couldn't be me just not sadistic lol.

Maybe death was too much or too quick, but a name change really doesn't feel like it's enough of a punishment, I'm thinking cut myne's tongue out, burn her hair off, break her ankles, and have her care for her father whose limbs will be severed and will be made blind,death, and dumb(pierce his eyes and ears and a lobotomy ) and after his death leave her deep in a monster infested forest (no armor) with nothing but a wooden shield........too much?

you all saw how happy she was whit the punishment now remember how uncomfortable she was with redo healer, now this is the reason why is important to chose recommendations thinking on who is watching and not just pick the hot topic of the season

It's definitely worth looking up the manga and reading the part that episode 21 covers as they changed it quite a bit. I'm fine with what they did in the anime as they had to make it more "tv friendly?" but the manga is a lot better. But really, you can say a lot of manga are more in depth than their anime counterparts. lol.

It will be especially jarring when they have to revert his character for Season 2/3 (or they have to somehow adapt his behaviour to what the anime did, which would mean even more changes)

Episode 21 is one of my favorite anime episodes ever, seeing Naofumi redeemed after everything is too good. Not many other anime's can "execute" that kind of payoff and have it resonate so well but shield hero accomplishes that pretty seamlessly. BTW, the song from Episode 20 is actually from the first opening of the show lol.
