PC UPDATE

it's a really solid build but its unfortunate you are probably paying way more then you should need to for it due to current conditions. but what can you do sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet. My only piece of advice is make sure you when you get it that you setup it up in a place that gets good air flow. The main advantage to a full PC build over laptop other then raw power is cooling. Too many people suffocate the air flow on these machines by shoving them into small places that dont get good air flow. The Lian Li PC-O11 case is a good looking case but it has a very specific air flow path since most of the normal air flow you would have is blocked by tempered glass for looks. It easy to accidentally block air flow on this case by shoving it in a small space or up against a wall where it blocks the in take. If the guys building your computer know what they are doing which im sure they do they will probably build the machine so it has cold air in take coming from the side panel and hot air exhausting from the top and back of the case. Just a bit of advice from someone who has built many computers in their time. Heat is the number 1 reason computer parts die out over time and its usually due to bad air flow. Also clean it out every once in a while especially if you have animals. Over time animal hair and dust will get stuck up in the fans/radiator and eventually restrict air flow or keep fans from spinning which can cause long term problems.

if i were you i would have saved about 1k on getting a cheaper gpu they had in stock like a 3060 ti maybe since im assuming you are only playing single player games and then get a 5950x and then upgrade to a better gpu later i guess

then again they probably told her that the rog strix 3070 ti was the only gpu they had in stock, because not many ppl would spend 1k for a 3070 ti

i mean thats way more +100 for the 3070 ti. she got the rog strix 3070 ti which is 1k at the microcenter on the website lol. i mean 3070 ti compared to 3070 only looks really bad in single player games for some reason. in multiplayer games from tests ive seen there is a bigger difference

I wasn't talking about finding same parts elsewhere. You can replace some components with others while achieving almost the same performance for much less. It's about getting/squeezing the most juice out of your money. For example, you can save: +100$ going from an RTX 3070Ti to a 3070. The performance difference between these 2 cards is almost negligible, be it gaming or editing. +130$ on Windows 10 by buying a legitimate copy on eBay or allkeyshop.com for 10$ instead of the 140$ price in MicroCenter. And these are just two examples. I could easily reduce your budget by at least 500$. Anyway, as long as you're happy with what you're getting ☺️

Seems fine. More cores helps with editing so I see why they went with a Ryzen 3000 series vs the newer 5000 series because it would have added 200 or so to the budget I think. Gen 4 M.2 will definitely make things extremely fast.

I don't know what is the price difference in the US between the ryzen 9 3950x and the ryzen 9 5950x, but in your case that your PC is tool for work you should see it as an investment in the long term, a faster CPU will let you edit faster, which in turn will let you do more work in less time. Here in Japan the difference in price of those 2 CPUs is around 19000 yens ( around 172 dollars). Regardless of what you get I wish you good luck with your new PC. 😊

Ye Prices Exploded. But ye idk how much the Price Difference between the 3950x and the 5950x is where you live but if the difference is not that much (100-200$) i would go for the 5950x because its a little faster than the 3950x in Edit and Export Videos etc.

Good luck on your first(?) custom PC. As some one who frequently build custom PCs for friends, i wouldn't stress about whether you overpaid, cuz you can't really put a price on the time and possible troubleshooting. Looks like you got it built at MC, and they're prices are usually in line with others. Hope you'll love it

I did search for specs but the total cost also included $400 protection plan so I guess technically it was around $4400 but even so a lot of the parts I would find online were more expensive. So wherever I was looking it was always giving me around the same total price all together. (I’m also in CA and our sales tax is very expensive as well)

IDK where you got the 5k from but ye 5k for this would be a little expensive. With 5k u should at least get a Ryzen 5950x and a RTX 3080.

Not trying to be a smartass or anything, but 5000$ is too much for those specs even considering the current pandemic situation. You could easily save 800-1000$ with a same performing PC. It's always best to ask an acquaintance to help you with this sort of thing as retailers will usually pump out as much money as they possibly can from you.

Yeah I remember trying to set up a PC build last year and the price was around $2000 and basically for this build it was $4900 x_x but my current laptop can't handle exporting anymore and I don't want to burn it out so I had to build a PC. I REALLY wish I just did it last year... xD wouldve saved a lot I think

Seems fine to me. Because you are editing a lot, a second SSD of that would be nice to have, you could let it encode from one SSD to another and would be faster :)

It's getting built for me. Somehow I break laptops so idk if I trust myself putting together very sensitive pieces. It was like $100 for them to build it and make sure everything works together at the micro center so to be on the safe side I just went with them
