Late-to-the-party, in episode 2 during the fight there's a moment where we see a small crowd of people reacting to the fight, I think three of them were also FT characters, one was Warren the wizard who uses telepathy, one looked like Max the sand wizard, and there was a woman who looked like the wizard from mermaid heel, the chubby one.

So it might be better to switch the source, then again the Netflix might add on the episodes like they do on My Hero Academia, since you haven't made a schedule for it. Hope you enjoy this show cuz it's totally fun to watch!!

About the character similarities, Hiro Mashima has always reused character designs/concepts from his previous works. For example, there's a Jellal type character in Rave and FT, Plue is originally from Rave, there is an Oracion Seis in both Rave and FT, and many other examples. I guess it's just something he likes to do and I personally don't really find issue with them because the characters he "reuses" are never the exact same character.

But he couldn’t figure out how to put the new mascot (which you’ll meet soon), in the first chapter, so Happy took that spot for a little while. He’s not as much in the spotlight as in FT
