2021-09-13 06:05:01 +0000 UTCyeah i agree they should make the reveal as impactful as the manga. but like u said its a pacing issue Toei struggles with. but overall I'm happy with the pace compared to the rest of "new world". especially with fights coming up i wont mind if they add more to them to drag out the episodes

2021-09-13 05:35:36 +0000 UTCThat's not really what bothers me. What really bothers me is presentation. Obviously many, including me, also read the manga. So there is a lot of stuff we already know is going to happen. But how it is shown is important. Take Whitebeard. We have all seen his first appearance, possibly many times, but the big reveal of him is still epic for him. Same thing with revealing CP9. For manga readers or even repeat anime viewers we know who is under the masks. But still the tension and reveal always makes it so much better. They have been dropping the ball on that front the last few arcs. Like with Katakuri. Instead of his ice cold first appearance in the manga where he kills a guy with a jelli bean there is a regular introduction with him at the gate then that one. It sorta undercuts that second introduction a bit. I get the feeling that Toei is doing it to get fans who know what is coming amped up. But it kinda comes at the expense of the pacing and narrative, which weakens it overall. It just bugs me.

2021-09-13 05:34:12 +0000 UTCi understand how you feel but in japan they dont treat anime like we do. it is unheard off in japan to be a "anime only" fan. everyone has read the manga. this to them is pretty much full fanservice. hence why they put out openings with full spoilers to get the fans hyped for what they already know is coming in the arc.

And revealing Yamato before the reveal in a flashback that isn't even relevant yet. I swear if next episode they try to do a dramatic 'Yamato is a woman?!' reveal then I will be upset. I remember when fullcharacter debuts were epic and not drawn out or spoiled. Like when we first saw Whitebeard in his full glory.

Interestingly enough Pay-tan refers to Ulti as Aniki which is like saying Big Brother but is also used to refer to someone with a bigger status than you. Next episode should be really good.
