Slime 13 & 14 Reaction + Review!

Comments

Geld as a newborn Demon Lord didn't have most of his abilities yet. If he had Rimuru would have lost.

Overlord_Ashalon

Preditor has a serious weakness the anime doesn't address Rimuru cannot eat someone stronger than him unless there weakened or let themselves be eaten.

Overlord_Ashalon

Slime is not a battle anime like Bleach or Dragon Ball Z it's a narrative-driven anime meaning the fights are less important as long as the story is good Overlord is the same way.

Overlord_Ashalon

I kept talking about how you dropped it after 1 episode so I am surprised you decided to come back to it. Can't wait for season 2 reaction.

"No stakes" LAUGHS IN SPOILERS XD

Prof. Walker

Don't worry, there are tons of powerful enemies that you haven't met yet.

Elumesia Elure

Glad you're loving this show. Like you had said, one of the only real detractors of this show IMHO (other than the wait between half-seasons, that is) is how it seems so far like our hero can't lose. Even when he struggles (like he kinda did against the Orc Lord) it is just a matter of time before he can overcome his foe because he came into this world with such powerful abilities that it seems that nobody else can come close. If you recall it was much the same in One Piece. Most of the foes Luffy had faced in the beginning went down without too much effort. Even in Alabasta or Enis Lobby, where Luffy seemed like he might end up losing, once we saw Luffy get that look in his eye we knew that the one he was facing would be going down soon after. It seemed like there was no enemy that Luffy and his crew couldn't beat with enough effort. And then Marineford happened, and not only did we see that there were opponents stronger than him but also we witnessed him fail to help someone close to him, we saw a beloved character die, and that's when the stakes became real to us. So while Rimuru might seem like an unstoppable force now keep in mind that there is at least one Demonlord in this world, one whom the majin Gelmund feared even though he served him, and while Orc Lord Geld was a demonlord himself when Rimuru defeated him he was still rather newly-born and not yet used to his power. So don't worry, Rimuru will get his moment like Luffy had, and like Luffy it will serve as a real eye-opener for him.

Well the focus of Tensura is for the most part the city/nation building with it's macro and micro management, so for large parts there isn't really any need for stakes since it's not actually about the battles. Though yeah, it's important to keep in mind that there is always someone stronger. Also the fact that Rimuru can't be everywhere at once.

Ryuuji Gremory

I understand how you feel about barely any stakes and Rimuru being so powerful, but there are a few things to consider. Rimuru was actually born/reincarnated with insanely powerful skills, and Great Sage plays a big part on why he's so strong. The enemies are also not aware of what skills he has, so it's much easier to secure advantages over them. While the Orc Disaster was the only actual threat they faced so far, it's best to be aware that there's always someone above you xD
