So the first 2 episodes of season 2 were supposed to take place after Milim leaves but before Rimuru goes to school and even then there's a missing story that takes place right before he heads to the school.

In any anime ever you know the good guys are going to win there's never really any stakes normally. So I don't see your point.

I'm so confused you watched overlord with less complaints(besides cgi animation) but Ainz is like 100x more op than Rimuru compared to the people in their respective worlds

I mean the show doesn't really have high stakes currently and I don't know about the future. Also His power comes from the fact that he was named by Veldora who is equal to a demon lord. So he is weaker than the demon lords. In a battle he wouldn't be able to defeat Milim or the other demon lords. Otherwise his power is probably second to none from what I can gather.

First I'd like to point out that with many of these episodes you need to be watching them from the beginning as they start before the opening credits. Not all of them do, of course, episodes 20 and 21 didn't, but episode 19 did and so does the remaining episodes of the season and the majority of season 2 as well. The footage isn't recaps either but rather story segments, sometimes big chunks of it that you're cutting out by not checking first and instead skipping forward to the end of the opening credits. The problem will get worse once you get to the second season as there will be a few episodes that don't even have opening and/or closing credits. Put it simply, you need to be checking the beginning of the episodes before hitting the fast-forward. Also you should react to the OAD episodes, 3-5 at least, before moving on to season 2.
Now as you surmised, and as other have explained, this series main focus is on world-building and relationships, and at least for the first season the stakes aren't all quite there. Even Charybdis, who was certainly tough enough to challenge Rimuru, even he was taken out quickly due to his new friendship to Demon Lord Milim. However, there will be stakes and they will come before you are ready for it. As powerful as Rimuru is, as episode 19 showed there's always someone stronger, and not all of them will be as friendly or open as Milim or Gazel Dwargo. Things are going to get intense and exciting rather soon.

Our Slime Lord might have struggled with this if Milim hadn't handle it for him. These episodes shows his powers have limits as he is right now.

I like that this show has a even balance of compelling story and comedy with a sprinkle of action, thank you so much for the reactions. p.s I think one the few animes where the MC went back to there world that I can remember is Digimon and SAO.

It's not a battle shonen but a nation building story, there will be stakes from time to time, sometimes high stakes, as the second season will show, but the stakes and battles aren't really the focus of the story.

Big stuff is definitely gonna go down, just wait. This is the kind of series that has tons of build-up.

Yeah like she just has to keep watching. 19 episodes isn't going to put Rimuru up against an insane opponent due to the structure of the anime having a ton of set-up.

Yea there really isn't much stakes but dont think Rimuru is just a overpowered MC that can beat anybody as Milim just proved there is people far above his level
