To the point where a couple of grown men waited for me outside my house and told me I can keep my territory if I joined their gang I already had a crew like takemichi's friends so they were in too but under me but like I was under someone too it was lot of fun lol never took it too seriously tho guess cuz I was a kid this anime really makes me miss being in the center of that environment. Also I hope your situation got better bro

The reason I joined was because of not having food to eat for days or a bed to sleep in at night. It's not easy either. Saying the alphabet is easy. A middle or high school gang perhaps. You have to get jumped in and that's terrifying. Your parents can't control you but if they don't at least make an attempt and try to look out for your best interest they are crappy parents.

But you have to wonder why NOBODY has parents around xD And I think a few people tried to challenge that statement with "most anime has no parents" xD but if parents are absent the characters make a point to say why, this one just ignores the concept of parents... (well so far Idk if they address this later)

While looking at their bloodied faces in the thumbnail I'm wondering the same now more than ever. Lucy Heartfillia's father, pre time skip is a better parent than collectively all of the guardian's in TR. The south side of Chicago isn't even as active as these Tokyo prefectures. In a country analogized as the safest place on the globe.
