Slime S2 ep 9 & 10 Reaction + Review!

did she say just like farming?

I see Rimuru's speech to himself is equivalent to a pep speech before a sports competition; showing his resolve. I also think that letting no one escape is part of the plan after Great Sage analyzed various alternative scenarios, probably thinking this would be the best one for some reason. Like, if some people escaped and told their story, what would happen?

I don't consider Great Skill as a part of Words of the World, it a skill in its own right like any other skill. I think of WoTW as the voice of the laws of the world, and Great Sage as a really good supercomputer.

It's kind of ironic that Shogo gains the new skill Survivor, but it is that new skill that necessitates Geld being so brutal. He is trying to do damage faster than the regeneration ability can keep up with the damage so that he can actually kill him.

myst0dreamer

Actually in the LN it is even more brutal than that.

The only magic required is the summoning of water elementals which then use their own power to summon the droplets to act as reflectors, and because there is no magic involved in the attack itself it also pierces all magic barriers because they can only block magicules.

Slime was pretty brutal from the start though. In the first episode some of the kills of the life in the cave is fairly brutal. And when he's protecting the goblin village I always felt bad with how daddy wolf was decapitated. There were a few other things here & there as well. So... the level of violence was always there, but the context is what makes this feel a lot darker. Still, I do think the level of violence implied that not everything was going to be happy-go-lucky.

OnePieceMan

The manga does show a bit more brutality. Though I don't think showing how they suffer before dying or not showing that really adds to the scene. But what I am bummed about is that they did not include the extra chapter which did showcase that not everyone in the enemy army is scum and that Rimuru does have a heartfelt conversation with a soldier who is mainly fighting in the army to feed his family. If you want to know what happens, I recommend reading that chapter even if you don't read manga. It's chapter 65.5.

OnePieceMan

As much as a trash person that isekai'd girl was... I still think her death scene is the most brutal one in the series so far. She was sleeping just before that and had no idea what was going on, then her 'ally' just comes in, says he's going to kill her and starts strangling her. And in the end she calls for her mom just before her neck break. Despite it being off-screen, with how it went down I consider it the single most brutal death scene in the series.

OnePieceMan

In the manga this was even more brutal. It actually showed that the lasers from Megido were burning real holes thru all of their heads. I remember hearing that in the light novel it was explained that this spell only starts off as a spell. But ends as a physical attack. This is one reason why it's effectiveness inside the anti-magic circle that he made was maximized. Light is being focused through water lenses outside the circle turning it into a physical laser that is not made of magic that then travels inside the barrier. Supposedly this is the reason that megido does not become any weaker inside an anti-magic circle. Because post activation it's not really even a spell anymore

Where I watch this I went full dark side like yes bro OBLIRATE them 😭😭

Cleven Anthony

It wasn’t hard to watch for me because they deserved it imo

RedAlphaWolf808

He used water und wind spirits to form those lenses

RiShinMarco

I'm pretty sure she cried in Demon Slayer

It’s the tone shift. AoT and DS were set up to be dark as hell from the beginning, but Slime doing a complete 180 and going down this route catches most people by surprise the first time they see it, whether they’re reading the ln, the manga, or watching the anime.

Coatl45

Wait you watch AOT and Demon Slayer without batting an eye but can't handle a little death in Slime?? hmmm

JMen

Just so you know, the attack at the end (Megiddo) isn't a bunch of slimes. Lenses are being formed out of water or slime (not sure which) that amplify the sunlight into powerful lasers, and then droplets are used to refract them to rapidly and precisely hit the targets.

Walt McCaslin

Probably another way to describe it is that the Words of the World is like the internet and everything available there and Great Sage is like Google. However, I'm pretty sure that not everyone around the person getting skills hears the Words of the World's announcement. It is capable of speaking to several people at once simultaneously, especially if they're all getting affected similarly, but only those being affected thusly can hear it (and possibly those connected to them through soul corridors.)

SonicKing2004

Shogo 100% deserved that beating from Geld and more. The anime didn't go into much detail but those otherworlders actually killed the kids in Tempest in a way that would make them suffer. Slicing their vital spots and making them bleed out till they die and killing people they cared about. That's why Geld and the others were so pissed.

One important thing to keep in mind that isn't really explained, but comes in this episode is "Words of the World". Basically when people get skills of note everyone around them will hear it VIA the "Words of the World". Best way to explain it is the voice is similar to Great Sage's, but it's not Great Sage. Words of the World is kinda like the master system of the world while Great Sage is a fragment manifested as a skill (with limitations) that Rimuru can use. Not sure if I explained that well, but it will be important going forward.

Irosko

enjoyed the reactions, cant wait to see what you think about the rest of the season. thanks for the episode.

BlueSummer

Die. May the wrath of the Gods pierce. MEGIDDO!!!!!!

Commander Dodge

11 and 12 are the best. It's soooo good. I understand how watching sweet Rimuru being that dark. I will say as dark as this is, the light novel was darker. So happy to watch your reaction. Can't wait for more.
