The creator of fairy tail realized after the manga that Laxus wasn't really present during this arc so he made sure to fix that in the anime.

He did say that, he wished he could’ve written Laxus getting his revenge in this arc, but that would take longer, and he didn’t have the time, and he hopes that when the anime gets to that part, they could do something like that. That’s why its called Anime canon, as opposed to just Filler

2022-08-05 11:02:22 +0000 UTCYa my boy gajeel is the king when it comes to fairy tale arcs I believe he's probably the most character develop in the anime dunno if it's the same in the manga from going as a bad guy double spy agent hurting Levi by nailing her to the tree in the first major arc to joining fairy tale the protecting her from laxus lightning to getting his own cat rescuing fairytale in the other side arc by freeing grey and Scarlett to actually picking levi as his partner to become S class showing feeling to Levi in the Grand magic games arc and Levi future crying for his death in the future time line at season 1 ending I believe as well then now get his back story here with the council lady and I think the actual first on screen in fairy tale kiss/giving air between Levi and Gajeel and that possible none ova related I'm just saying there's alot of character build up with gajeel in the show far more then alot of the main team fairy tale besides Lucy think gajeel has the most development as a character besides getting stronger in arc wise moments
