Update

Hey everyone just updating I’ve been troubleshooting my PC today my desktop just died on me this morning and my PC stop loading. I had troubleshooting help and well my SSD drive is most likely dead so… yeah 🤣

I need to fix that hopefully it won’t take long and I won’t lose super important files…

But this was the most frustrating day 😭

And I don’t think I will be able to restore my PC by today and if I take it to microcenter I’m not sure how long that will take.

I think this is an issue I can solve myself by just buying an SSD and switching it out myself.

Anyways I will continue updating 🥲

My luck with tech is insanely bad.

Seems like someone doesn't understand how things work in reality. Sometimes people get help to build a PC and don't know everything about them. Samsung SSDs have had a few bad batches in recent years that have caused them to fail faster. No way to know which one you get till it happens. The motherboard's heatsink for it's SSDs is badly designed. Most motherboards let you unscrew the heatsink without having to remove the GPU. This one does not so you have to take it out to even reach the SSD. We already know for sure the SSD was the main issue because it even freezes the computer when trying to read from it after trying to save some files. Either way everything is fine now minus the lost files.

it is amazing to me that so many people dont understand a computer. it is so simple, always have a back up hard drive. SSD wasn't the problem, you should know your PC. How do you blame the motherboard design hahahaha, by video card you mean graphics card? games are coded to a certain "resolution" and if you see an xbox series x as a PC its worth 600, people buying 3000 pcs dont understand that. Ive heard dumb shit but blaming the motherboard design on a PC you bought? are you serious? SSD dont die! That is murder, and you framing the motherboard, you talking like her lawyer

Jami's PC is back up and running now at least but she still has to set it all up again. SSD was definitely dying. She did a good job replacing the SSD despite her motherboard having that awful heatsink design making her take out the video card, so honestly a great job for her first self fix.

Take your time. No worries fam

🙂 I commented PC stuff and ideas for you because I do sense that you do your own troubleshooting sometimes. I used to record my gaming so I have crazy tons of files from back then. I used to encode video as well... but I don't really know what content creators do these days. I bet the big channels have all kinds of advanced systems that they use. Which I wouldn't know of. Hahaha it makes me want to research. Maybe it will give me a clue what tech company to buy stock in lol... which I also do for fun. Yeah, do it all for fun...

oh good I'm glad you have PC support. It's good to know what is wrong. (I was writing part 2 while you were replying). Yes I think you can buy a new SSD... if you do it from a store, they can install it for you (I assume). But yeah you can install it yourself especially with your tech support helper Skiks. Weird that it won't boot from USB... but it's been a long time for me doing that kind of support. I really don't know features of Windows now, it just comes on the PC. Ack - good luck! I hope for you the best 😊

it's been so long I don't really know what a normal PC is anymore. My computer which is a mini tower PC under the desk has had many problems - the fan(?) quit working properly so it used to overheat all the time - so now I have a nice quality room fan sitting on the side next to the vent and it's blowing air into the PC... pressurizing it inside and so the heat is vented out. It's been like this for many years. This could be the longest I've had a computer working - this is the first time I put mirrored drives in it. It was one of those online build to order. And... the other thing that maybe helped me out, kept my computer working is I save all the files in a remote drive on the LAN which is actually a NAS. This could be why I've had much less issues in a long time now. Also save important files to the cloud. For content creation, having a stand-alone storage drives like a NAS is probably a good idea. I guess I'm suggesting ideas for you here... and the other thing that causes crashes is browsing the internet and clicking on all kinds of links. I would say don't do any of that on your important PC, maybe keep a cheap laptop to do that on. Also I plug into a big 55-inch TV as my monitor so it doesn't matter if it's a laptop. I guess these are suggestions. My friend who works in computer graphics, if his Mac ever goes down it's a big deal. I can imagine what you're going through. I only do it for fun, because of my interest as former PC support I got a NAS for fun at home but it's good for content creation - super complicated though, it's better if you can hire PC support 😊

I wish man 😂

Mechi

Yeah I tried that. Skiks in discord does tech support and that was our last resort and it wouldn’t work even with the usb method sadly. So I guess that conclusion is the SSD is dead

Mechi

Did you try another slot to confirm the SSD was dead?

MhdAfi

Is it running Windows? I haven't done PC support in many years... but I think Windows has a lot of backup features (like you can boot up from a USB flash drive). I use "mirrored" HD drives because I got tired of losing data. Mirrored means there are two identical HDDs that write the same info and so you're basically safe from any hard drive (HD) crash because the other mirrored drive has the same data. But actually I do have an SSD drive also as the boot drive - my PC is old now. And... you can try booting up in safe mode where you hold F8 as it's booting up. You might have tried this already and I don't know if a missing bootup device will go into safe mode. There is also the mode that is before the operating system which is the BIOS mode which can tell you stuff. But you probably tried a bunch of this already. If you're opening up the PC you can check the wiring connections, make sure nothing is unplugged and yes try to reseat the SSD.

Mannygogou

If all else fails, maybe Senku can give you a hand? 😅 Good luck, and thank you for the update!

Merfhew

So they are safe (I hope)

Mechi

Yeah my reaction files are saved on my hard drive

Mechi

I did. I had a tech person in discord run through with me like 10 different ways and we came to the conclusion the drive was dead after trying to put windows 10 on it and it failed

Mechi

I don't think I've ever seen someone with such poor tech luck😂. Well good luck with it and hope your files are saved.

Mario Estrada

Try reseat the SSD

MhdAfi

Good luck u got this I believe in u
