I hope that as Jami continues on with Invincible she's able to grasp and understand the real life aspects of superheroism and the mental strain that has on the heroes and the loss and grief they deal with. This is why Invincible stands above its predecessors and contemporaries for me.

I think they could still make it interesting if we didn't know who did it, but they would practically have to change all of season 1 if they did, since most critical scenes involve Nolan being obviously uncomfortable or dismissive when the Guardians are brought up. To your point, it would be obvious it was him. So they'd have to change those scenes and make them more subtle. Knowing what Nolan did in Ep. 1 is such a good hook for the show, though. Probably one of the best hooks I've ever seen for a pilot episode.

2025-03-22 20:27:35 +0000 UTCI think if we weren't shown what happened with the Guardians it would be a typical 'whodunit' where it is obvious who did it. And that's boring. We've seen that many times. Now instead of wondering 'who' we are wondering 'why'. Plus that episode 1 ending was what grabbed people's attention and is why it became a sensation. It set the tone for the series.

Cecil is forced to play along because at the moment he has noway to stop Nolan despite knowing he killed the guardians. He can't arouse suspicious that he knows the truth. Damien was pushing for Nolan to confess to hard without anybody knowing what to do if Nolan actually does confess. Why he did it doesn't matter as much as what to do when you confront him
