HONEST REACTION to I-LAND EP9

Comments

its not easy to talk about hard things like that especially when its at someone you look up to

Viya

being straight forward is good when necessary but not when you're making practice with Everyone uncomfortable and downright hurting their feelIngs

Viya

Hi, it's a bug/feature of Dropbox. To see tho whole video you can either download it or watch it on GDrive. If it doesn't play on GDrive try copying it to your own GDrive and watching from there

i am so disappointed the fact that they didn't include Hanbin's part when the producers gave them feedback. i was so angry that they did it again. i'm sure all of this is mnet fault not the producers. i think the producers did give him feedback but they decided to cut it. that's so stupid! Why can't they be fair to all the participants? it's really unfair. Hanbin can sing and he can dance...he got good personality and kind so why is it so hard to see his talents? i personally think Hanbin performed well in this performance. his voice stood out the most even at the parts where they sing together. And well of course i was so angry when they camera didn't show him doing the high note. His voice is needed in the debut group. I hope the producers and viewers recognize his talents.

I think part of it is because K is the oldest member on iLand, there is this weird thing about age in SK. Even 1 year difference is a big deal to them. Thats why pilots in Korea now is using english because there were were actually accidents happened because of this kind of culture https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impact_of_culture_on_aviation_safety

It works fine for me. Try logging into your dropbox account or watching with a different browser

You might have to create and log into your dropbox account to watch the whole video

Anna Kotova

The drobox chapter is incomplete. In google drive you can't see :(

Jocelyn Pardo

Hey Aaron, it seems like the video in Dropbox has been cut from the very end?

technical difficulties

In my opinion dance is definitely not more important than singing. I agree with all the other comments before mine about the prerecording of the music (not that I agree 100% that they should be doing it that way because I also want to hear their raw vocals in their performance). This vocal trainer has been with them the entire show (if you watched the special episode before the BTS one, she talks a lot about training with them from the beginning of the show in detail and she's also worked with BTS and Twice). Just because they haven't focused on vocals (which I think the absolutely should be showing more of) doesn't make the dancing more important. I believe they share an equal part in an idols performance at the end of the day along with the whole "acting" aspect.

lastly, i want to make a point you already know. since this is a reality audition program, what we can see is their actual final performance(not edited with different version, not audiowise!) of each song and that can be judged by producers and viewers. they do rehearsing before the actual on-air performance. so we can only evaluate each members from their final result(dance, facial expressions, awkwardness, if they moved in perfectly centered position or not, individual fancams from youtube, teamwork on the stage....etc) but you can't ignore their vocals from their tone of voices, pitchs and the mouth movement that they are actually singing

Is there a second part? The file is not complete :(

its not allowing me to view it on google drive but its okay :(

I don't blame you for not knowing how the Korean music shows work, because you are new to them. Some people already pointed out that they are really focusing on showing to the viewers the best possible performances, so they do pre-recordings, when the artists fully perform their songs (dancing+singing, not only one or the other) LIVE 2-3 times and then the production team takes the best cuts from their performances and mixes them together to create one perfect version for the viewers to enjoy. That's how it works not only in I-LAND, but also in Music Bank and other music TV shows. So what you're hearing is always their live singing, but the dancing part and vocal part might be from different "versions" of their performance, so it's out of sync sometimes. But it doesn't change the fact that the producers that are in I-LAND and are watching them can see and hear 100% unfiltered performances. When you look at the producers, you'll see they even have the headphones connected to the mics of the trainees, so they are the only ones we can trust, since we only see the perfectly edited version, while they even have the headphones to listen carefully. If they are talking about the singing ability of someone it's because they can really hear them.

Just one tip about those ads. This time I was late for the live episode, so I also had to watch it on viki, and I discovered that if you want to watch the episode without interruption, you can get rid of all the ads before watching. The ads are those yellow marks that you can see, so just simply skip to all of them first and watch the ads one after another. After that all the annoying ads will be gone and you can focus on the episode without interruption :) This also applies to youtube btw.

They really all have talent and potential. I like all of them, it is difficult for me to choose, I always end up with 8 favorites, so it will hurt when the 7 are chosen to debut.

Jocelyn Pardo

Me too...

Dyah Agustina Murtafiah

i’m so scared of global voting results,i trust the producers way more than other viewers :(

Aya

I don't agree with you at all. Dancing couldn't be more important! Both singing and dancing are equally important in any case for the idol!

Cherry blossom

Aaahhh....I kinda don't like this global voting but yeah, they want to create a solid fanbase in many countries for the debut team. I actually put my trust in the producer's eyes and ears 😅

Dyah Agustina Murtafiah

I totally agree!

Cherry blossom

They actually sing live. most Korean music shows(pre-recorded) shoot many times for one song, so it can look like they are lip syncing depending on which audio or part they edited. .For example, BTS always performs live, but music program usually pre-record the performance and they film several times for a song, the editers take the video from different takes(because korean shows focus on visuals or the dance so they can use good cuts from that) and only use one audio from that. so people often misunderstood like they are lip syncing because the audio seems live but the video used from different cuts. of course there are some groups only doing lip syncing. in this i-land case, they are singing live but MR or AR is applied strongly in the last editing, so you may not be able to agree with producer's evaluation because only producers can hear the actual audio from the studio. this show is weird Compared to other audition show we can't evaluate their vocals.. sorry for my poor english i hope u understand what i want to say.

ALSO (sorry for spamming) just because someone has been a trainee for a long time that doesn't make them more skillful than someone else with a shorter training period, Of course there are people like Park Jihyo or Bang Yedam with over 10 years of training experience so they are superstars. But take Seon for example, he was a trainee for like 4 or 5 years but in the producer's eye he has never grown exponentially in those years. Meanwhile someone like Jake or Ayaka from Nizi Project can have almost little to no experience but grow and develop like wildfire. So training length isn't everything, in fact the longer you are training the harder it is for you to debut, and if you get to a certain age like 22, 23 or 24 it's damn near impossible unless you're someone like K

Also they are supposed to be singers before they are dancers imo so I agree with the vocal coach that it was irresponsible of them to not think about the singing. I understand that being an idol is not just strictly about having good vocals or having great performance, but I'm personally in this for the music so I hate that this show seems more like a dance competition than a singing competition but being a dancer myself I do realize that if you HAVE to capture your audience which is why someone like Geonu who had arguably the strongest voice got eliminated i guess.

serenity

the producers always choose those who show improvement rather than focusing only their skill alone. And that kinda reminds me of bang pd saying that apart from their skill and talents, the producers should focus more on their potential. That's literally the first thing that bang pd said before they start evaluating them. Jake done a really good job in the show that altho he's one of the shortest period of training, he can grow to be as skillful as the other trainees.

I'm pretty sure they are singing live but they have a backing track Idk I just can hear a lot of breathing imo so the producers can probably hear their live vocals more than the viewers but I could be wrong I'm not a vocal expert lol

serenity

This is not a dance competition, it's an idol debut program, so I understand why Jake is higher than Niki based on various factors

I'm not saying that I don't respect your opinion and of course producers want it to be perfect but try to appreciate the singing a little more since it is not their fault that the volume of the microphone is lowered and the back up track is louder. By the way I love your reactions 💕

lesly gamez

I think that you should pay a little more attention to singing It is not autotune but they have the backing track and they sing over it but they turn up the volume so much that it actually makes their voices very low please consider that many people who have seen it have analyzed it and everyone agrees that they are singing but they lower the volume of the microphone, I'm not saying that I don't respect your opinion and of course producers want it to be perfect but really try to appreciate the singing a little more since it is not their fault that the volume of the microphone is lowered and the back up track is more louder . I really love your reactions 💕

lesly gamez

HAHAHAHAHA THEY WAY I LITERALLY DIED LAUGHING EVERY TIME AN AD POPPED UP 💀💀💀
