2019-02-08 22:16:12 +0000 UTCOk so just now (its 5 am) i suddenly had the thought "Was Senjougahara Wonder a pun or something that actually means something? Is that why Araragi said it?" (These are the things that keep me up at night) And yes apparently it does and I'm an idiot for not having thought of that all these years given the shows propensity for word games. In short, it's a call back to their previous conversation about Moe and specifically that Senjougahara had said that -Moe (i.e Glasses-moe, finding glasses attractive) should be replaced by -Tore (i.e. Glasses-tore, finding glasses to be a source of wonder). So when Ararararararagi said that he hoped that Senjougahara Wonder caught on, he was actually referring to Senjougahara-tore, his sense of attraction to her based off of wonder and cleverly calling back to her previous statement, so it wasn't as much of a vague statement as the sub translations would lead us to believe. At least that's what my quick 2 minutes of research has more or less shown now.
