I stan long discussion! Never apologize for doing those long discussion. Regarding the shogi "Brother" calling, shogi masters register their disciples, or students, with the shogi association and are seen as their "children." That's another reason why Rei calls Kioko father "Dad" but he hasn't changed his last name. That's why he isn't REALLY seen as a child of the household save by his shogi dad. This also explains the closeness between the shogi brothers. Yes, Harunobu's time is limited, but to serious players, their shogi family is often closer to them than their blood family.
