@JapaneseShamanGirl It does cover a lot of different themes you're right, my problem is they don't cover them accurately, I know it's an anime so it's going to be dramatized but it does that to the illogical extreme, to the point where even if going through many of those things you can't relate, the girl in it is literally the worst too just saying.

Seeing lots of constant BMing (from my point of view) in comments sent me off the deep end, haven't expected it myself, to be honest. But every time I encounter this type of underhanded stuff it just makes my blood boil. I know, I know, it was, most likely, unintentional and not malicious, effect still the same. Kevin, serious talk now. I knew nobody here would get where I'm coming from and I wasn't really hoping to "change minds and hearts", it wasn't entirely rational. I am a fossil, after all, and was most active in times before the internet. When you had to really make an effort to get something new to watch. When transfer "bandwidth" was very limited and measured in CDs and, later, DVDs. To make things worse, I was managing personal regional "archive" at the time and was compiling watchlists for dozens and dozens of anime fans in the area. You can call my previous statement a bad habbit, that has resurfaced due to bros watching pace and volume. In other words, how do you expect me not to be an elitist in this circumstances? Can't be done, impossible. Anyways, I'll do my best to refrain from posting in the later polls, but... no promices! UwU

Yeah, well, I was feeling PAIN! SUFFERING! DESPAIR! silently over here, but then saw you going around and it prompted me to chime in. First of all, it misses the theme completely. "Surprise"? Really? Yeah, sure, go ahead and push the show you like, instead of balancing the current watchlist with the themes Bros actually want. Secondly, it is not that great. I'm sorry, but it's not. Tastes and preferences, yada-yada, but it just failed to leave a lasting impression, unlike other shows. Around 10 years have passed and I fail to recall any notable moments from it, aside from the premise. Not a good sign of a "great drama", not at all. And lastly, you all suck. Yagate Kimi ni Naru on the last place? Humanity is doomed and nothing can save it now.

It covers a lot of different themes, such as anxiety, loneliness, perversions, suicide, depression, etc. I've known many people (including myself) that have been deeply touched by it, and even saved by it. I hope it wins, and I hope it allows more people to experience it if it does.

Novel is definitely darker but the standalone anime can be healing. The anime helped me through some dark periods so it can heal depending on how you view the show
