Saga texts and just Norse stories recorded, has exaggerations as one of its core genre defining traits. "as tall as a mountain" or "could shatter a torso with a single strike". Although, even if not intentional, it fits brilliantly.

The series is historical but also takes inspiration from the likes of the Icelandic Sagas and other folklore where people like Thorkell the Tall supposedly had giants blood in them and where descendant from giants. So it's inspired by those sagas as well as a bit of anime flare.
