I always liked the older anime during this part. They spent a few episodes training. Gon could open the gate by himself. Which emphasized how much stronger he got during the heavens tower phase.

I agree with you.. when the episode ends..watching the reactors decouple from the show and starting their comments and predictions are fun transitions to watch. Hope they do it. But I am not complaining with all the copyright hits

Putting the great plot line predictors like SOS bros against unpredictable show like Hunter x Hunter is so much fun to watch. I really hope that once they get well into the story, they look back on the previous episodes are reevaluate it.

It might just be me but it feels like the reaction part gets cut off early.

Though, there is a big difference between pushing a door open vs deadlifting weight. Pushing a door open, you only need to overcome the static friction of the door hinges in force, as opposed to fighting the force of gravity on weight. If those doors were on perfect frictionless hinges, a small child could push the door open (albeit slowly). There is also the point of mechanical advantage and torque being applied too.
Though, they also could be saying, "The door weighs 2 tons" as "The door takes the equivalent force of lifting two tons of mass to open." This seems also like a reasonable interpretation because it seems that the doors have some mechanism in them that forces you to open both doors at once, instead of just one of the double doors. And also measure the amount of force being used so if you are overwhelming one set of doors easily, the next set of doors kick in to see if you can open that.
Go being an engineer and overthinking a minor detail in an anime!

The first door was 2 ton, so 2.000kg. Those cups Kurapika were holding did not amount to that. Let's be generous and say he were holding 30 on each side. Still not enough. That would be 1.200kg in total. So no, he would not be able to.
He was holding like 15 in each arm so he was actually carrying about 600kg.
The physique training has a purpose. Be patient.

The reason mother was at the gate before the butler because it really bothered her that killua was so confident that gon will make it the zoldyck mansion and she wanted to see this anamoly called “GON” for herself

Also, I really like the Zoldyks. They are really weird but they are a family. I highly doubt they would kill one of their own members. Just from a strategic point of view, they would cut down their own fighting force as they only have so many family members. And they are dependent on each new generation to bring forth the new wave of assassins. It would be counter productive for them to kill one another.

I think you have confused Killua and Kirapika's stories. He didn't gouge out his mother's eyes. The Zoldyks all specialize in different types of assassination techniques, his mother's visor has to do with that. Also, you've actually met most of Killua's immediate family. You've met his mother and three of his siblings. So, there's not many others left.

I would say that Gon does NOT know what's "right", but he knows what he WANTS, He has done or been okay with a lot of "wrong" things so far.

Another great thing about this show is that it takes your expectations and drops them down a hole. Its fascinating listening to you two infer and try to make guesses. The fact I have to wait until next week for more is killing me.

Oh, another thing that the 1999 version did a little differently, was after the weight training in the servants quarters, Kurapica, Gon and Leorio could open the first training gate on their own, and Leorio was actually able to get the second gate open, if I recall correctly. So they were REALLY strong. It is not a huge difference, but, it did show them a bit stronger.

Kurapika & Leorio went with Gon to get Killua because they feel indebted to him for helping them out in the Hunter exam, as it was mentioned right at the end of that arc. Besides friendship, that's the only reason they've accompanied Gon to Kukuroo Mountain.

Fun fact, in the manga and the original anime, all of them were able to open the door 1 by themself, leorio was even able to open door two.

1) I think you might’ve mixed Killua’s and Kurapika’s backstory a little bit, because they’ve never said that Killua gouged out his mother’s eyes xD 2) In the earlier episode Zebro said that the first gate weighs 2 tons, so if Kurapika had 20 of those 20 kg cups on each hand it would still only be 0,4 tons, so he would not be able to push open the gate :p (That’s how tons work in my country at least e.e xD) I know there’s a difference between lifting something and pushing something though, since you can use your entire body weight when you push something, but he would still not be able to push it open xD I’m going way too deep into it, so Bai ;)))

Killua did not gouge her eyes though. That wasn't mentioned. He "just" stabbed her face

I'm pretty sure they do this because they like it this way, they like to make their videos more about the discussion than the reaction.
