For the idea that Killua's family might not know about nen, I'm pretty sure they know. However, if you hadn't noticed, they sort of train Killua by simply letting him figure it out on his own. They teach him the basics, but for the hard stuff, they let him figure it out.

Yu Yu Hakusho is sort of the precursor to HxH. You can see many of the elements from that, that went into HxH and were perfected there.

I don't know, I was fine without it. I watched it later and felt that everything mentioned in that episode was already implied by this series. It didn't take away from any of the emotion that it will all eventually lead to.

I agree, it's almost like they are eternal equals since Hisoka would want to fight anyone stronger than him. So Hisoka and Illumi are always kind of on equal levels.

If you think about it, the premise of this arc could sustain an entire series of another anime. Fighting and training to try to make it to the top of a battle tower like this, with rivals and backstabbing and being forced to fight against friends, and so on? That's great stuff! That's an entire series right there! But it's just one of the story arcs in Hunter x Hunter.

Just wanna say, I think ya guys should find time to watch the first episode of the 1999 version , even if not a reaction and off-screen, because there are parts that are relevant to the story that weren't put in the first episode of the 2011 version.

I absolutely love watching you guys discuss the power system, when you have so little to go on. The conclusions you draw from almost no information are wonderful. Especially since you guys are trying to figure it out based on other shows, that HxH inspired.

Well, in regards to a character improperly using a technique, Deku and One for All, that was pretty disastrous at first.

With regards to Hisoka and Illumis relationship, I always got the vibe that they were relatively equals. As we know from the Hunter Exam arc, Hisoka values ingenuity and combat ability, so it makes sense that he would probably want to pair up with someone who he respected. From this I felt that the exchange Illumi gave after the exam was more along the lines of "I'm glad he's on my side" kinda thing. Anyways, that's the vibe I got from the first arc, I can see how others may think differently. Good stuff guys!

It was mentioned in the beginning of the episode that it has 251 floors and it is 991 meters high :)
