Gon does have a goal though. He wants to punch Hisoka and return the badge to him, as his conscience prevents him from using his Hunter License until after he can touch Hisoka, which he'll then be willing to use his license for the purpose of continuing to hunt down his dad, which was his original goal.

I dunno if you read these guys or if you've figured it out and you're ahead on it but just wanted to chime in spoiler-free on nen and how it works, it's an imagination based power that other than the basic principles we were shown is completely exclusive to the user. Only Hisoka can accurately perform his power due to those two powers being the ones he thought up. So this rubber/gum like ability of his is not one that can be learned with nen but rather his individual imaginative use of nen. Hope that in any way helps but I'm sure other people have already said what I've said.

Happy Thanksgiving! The conversation about gum made me laugh lol Hisoka seems a bit childish :) everybody in this show seems childish and I think that is what makes them interesting, being childish and playful like a teenager (I am watching you Leorio :P

Also, you guys were completely off the point about Hisoka liking Gon cause of his "senses". Kastro was capable of doing the same thing, but was too distracted by Hisoka's perverted show to use nen cautiously. Oh and just so you remember, Hisoka already mentioned this episode that you shouldn't go learning certain nen abilities just cause you could. There is the possibility of "running out of memory". Gon's goal btw, is to find his father.

yay! im so glad you liked this episode! the first time i watched this i didnt at all expect hisoka to be in the phantom troupe, so i got 2 big surprises here! honestly, i love the way this episode deals with hisoka, like you said, it really kind of humanizes him. and now youre starting to see some of the more creative ways nen can be used, which is exciting. great reaction as always!

Not wanting any side characters having importance is kinda running counter to how any good long-running series work. If you're just going to make every side character a throw away, then the story would actually be more generic, contrary to what you were saying last episode. Either way, happy thanks giving.
