Breaking Gido's leg was a lot more brutal than actually knocking him out. That guy will not only be able to not perform Nen, but he'll also not even be able to walk until a new one is made for him. No mercy there. When I first watched I was glad they went and did that instead of the usual trope of, "I'm gonna stop my fist right in front of your face instead of hitting you". It's like, no. You threatened real violence outside of this match. No mercy. I'm also glad they didn't spend too long with these guys. It's one of the things I hated about shows like Fairy Tail where an entire 2 - 3 episodes is fought with B-tier villains that have no plot significance for the sake of having fights. Going over all of them in one episode in ways that make sense is very appreciated.

Gon didn't use Nen enhancement. His fishing pole is just physics-breaking (or made of some kind of super material). He used pure strength to lift the tile. There was no Nen usage for either.
