Im pretty sure Killua told his brother that he didn't want to kill anymore and wanted to be Gon's friend in the final hunter exam phase

I think the only reason Killua didn't kill the guy was because Gon wouldn't have liked it.

I always get goosebumps when Killua threatens the guy to get lost for breaking their promise. Definitely one of my fave scenes in this arc.

hisoka still went into it with the intention to learn their abilities but not to master them himself but to just know them which gives him in some cases a huge advantage

No, Hisoka explained already. Making a double from Nen takes so long and requires so much of one's mental resources, that by the time one has figured out how to do it, they've forgotten how to use Nen for anything else. Kastro would have been able to use Gyo but he "ran out of memory".
