Help Me (Jacob) Pick A Book Title!!!

Here's the back cover synopsis:

Six young people have the opportunity to save humanity from a war that is predicted to send civilization back to the Stone Age. The ANGELs (Air Navy and Ground ELite) start as a scrappy group of kids from various planets who are saved from poverty and desperation by a military leader who calls himself Sol. The kids rename themselves after the planets in Earth's solar system to reflect their commitment to Sol and their shared purpose as ANGELs. They must somehow prevent the coming war, even if it costs them their lives.

Mercury, the first to join Sol, leads the others in battle. Venus, the best fighter of them all, aspires to be better than Sol's own legendary teacher. Earth was an orphan and is the optimistic glue of the team. Mars is protective of his companions, but has no qualms about killing their enemies. Jupiter is the weakest of the ANGELs, with a sensitive and observing nature. Saturn, the smallest and most energetic, just wants the team to be together forever.

The ANGELs find purpose in their shared training, and Mercury is eager to do his part as leader. Yet as training turns to battle, Mercury’s doubts rise and he questions whether Sol’s motives are pure. He wants nothing more than to save lives alongside his fellow ANGELs, but when Mercury starts getting strange messages from the same AI that predicts the coming war, his world is turned upside down. Should he betray his friends, his teacher, and everything he knows in order to save humanity? Or is there another way?

An adventure science fiction novel that poses deep ethical questions, [Insert Title] is full of action and heart.

Comments

I like Fallen Angel simply for the connotation of both the fact he is an A.N.G.E.L. questioning the purpose of the team but also questioning his "god" Sol. Brings to mind the fall of angels when Lucifer went against God. I am not a huge Sci-Fi fan but the book sounds interesting. I agree though it would have more impact of it was Fallen A.N.G.E.L. as it would seperated it from other "Fallen Angel" titles or even combining the two titles together.

Not very much of a reader since I have very specific tastes xD but i so want to give your book a read when it comes out! hope it comes out where I live! Battle Lines sound just right for me :D

VinterSvart

I have very strongly considered that actually XD I debated having a side character "chronicling" the events of the story for a song.

Semblance of Sanity

Ballad of the fallen angels!! Hue hue hue.. (Ripoff indeed)

Ke3rthi Kumar

IKR, It so does!

Ke3rthi Kumar

It could be known across us fans as FABLous (because of the acronym)

Minseok Kim Studios

I would go with something probably more celestial or planet based, Something a little more unique. Both titles sound a little generic. Also, Jacob, do you have a video about how you got started in writing? If not, I think that would be something great to look at for some of us who want to be future writers. :D

1. Angel Lines: Battle Fallen

Neutreu

Personally, I'd go with both. Maybe have 'battle lines' serve as a sub-title. e.g: Fallen Angel;Battle Lines

Minseok Kim Studios

If "Lines" is in there for an explicit reason, only then I would not swap it, otherways I would. Since the story is something looking forward, and the saviors are going beyond and in front of everyone else, including the impending doom, maybe Font Lines would be a better choice. It does depict the collision course the heroes take, and still keeps up the battle nature of the title. Khaos

I really like the insinuations for both titles. While my first reaction to Fallen Angels was a little negative (maybe because it conjures up bad teen romance in my mind?), the more I thought about it the more I like the imagery it paints for the story line. I think it would be an evocative title I would appreciate once I'd started reading. Battle Lines is also fantastic. It has an aggressive name, but its true strength comes from its implications. Every decision about war comes down to where you draw the lines. I could see that as pertaining to a struggle Mercury faces as he questions if the just answer to the war is betrayal. I'm excited!

If it's meant to be some kind of religious commentary, go for Fallen Angel. Otherwise, Battle Lines is better because it sounds more unique and interesting. Personally I would have picked the name Potentia Celestial, but then again I've only read the synopsis. Seems fitting though, "how far can these celestials (planets) go?"

Eric Jernberg

Battle Lines because it's eye-catching. Fallen Angel doesn't sound unique, I could probably find a dozen (or even more) with that title. Also, Battle Lines sounds strong and intense - and doesn't give anything away. If you DO go with Fallen Angel, Definitely go with Fallen A.N.G.E.L for more impact. Best of luck! :D

Tammi M

I voted for Battle Lines since there was no Captain Planet. Shame! :P

Genbor

Huh, I would think you'd pick some more celestial options, like Solar Eclipse or something. Both these titles are good too though! Good luck on your book!!

Alice's Dream

i hope this book will be available in my country

Lærke

fallen angel is already the name of multiple books and series, i would pick battle lines to avoid confusion

Lærke

This gave me the Evanghelion vibes. Does Earth need to get into a robot? :))

Battle Lines jumped out at me first. But holy cow this sounds exactly like the type of story that I would read and obsess over! Im sure you dont need it, but I wish you the best of luck! :) As an aspiring author myself I always get really excited when reading about things like this, and seeing how much love and thought people have put in to their stories, which you obviously have.

Fallen Angel I feel wouldn't stand out as much as Battle Lines, though comparing the two I also think Fallen Angel lends better context to what the synopsis says. I agree with one of the previous comments up above about perhaps "Fallen A.N.G.E.L." since it's more eye-grabbing and unique. As it stands now though I'll vote for Battle Lines.

Ace of Blades

If I saw Fallen Angel on a bookshelf, my firsts thoughts are, "ok, it's a tragedy, or maybe a story of heroism in the face of tragedy, with epic scope or themes or at least some religious imagery." With Battle Lines, I might think more of something grounded and gritty, and/or of something where ideological and moral battle lines are being drawn.

Fallen Angel sounds cool.

Ryan H

I voted Fallen Angel because it seems to fit more with the coming of age themes. It also lends a more mythological air to the book, whereas Battle Lines seems more grounded. With the characters being named after planets/gods and being called Angels, that seemed to make more sense. I could also see Fallen Angel being too on the nose depending on what happens in the book, while Battle lines could have more room for multiple meanings.

I'm a sucker for Paradise Lost references so I voted for Fallen Angel as well, but I like the acronym idea... it gives it a more sci-fi feel!

I voted for Fallen Angel because I think it makes more sense from the back cover synopsis. But I was wondering maybe "Fallen A.N.G.E.L." with the periods would grab someone's attention more???

Aspen Hunter

Battle Lines pops and will draw my eye to the book more than Fallen Angels, but I picked Fallen Angels because it makes a lot more sense after reading the summary.

Cody Enos

I chose 'Battle Lines' because it gives somewhat a prospective for the reader at least a small hint about the theme or plot meanwhile the other title sounds kind of misleading as a fallen angel type of romance novel tbh. But I guess if you have an artistic front cover and not just those books with a massive title all over the front of the book then I guess it could work too.

Fallen angel sounds like it would go with the plot well, but battle lines is an eycatcher of a title. I'm conflicted...

Sabrina Dorrough

Thanks for helping :D

Semblance of Sanity

I have a super awesome sci-fi cover, but yeah, that's one of the reasons why I need your opinions.

Semblance of Sanity

As in multiple?...Reasons.

Semblance of Sanity

Yeppers. Granted, I'll be publishing it myself, but yeah.

Semblance of Sanity

Nice! I vote Battle Lines. Though depending on what happens along the way it sounds like Fallen Angel would lead into the final chapters or perhaps impacting sooner. Hmm...

RemnantRyku

Imo Fallen Angel is a bit misleading, ofc if you read the description or the back of the book it makes perfect sense but if you just walk by and read the title it is right?

Potatoschweg

You're publishing a book?

Cody Enos

Why not fallen angels though?
