bungee gum is only a transmuter technique, a manipulator technique would move an control an object itself not us an exterior thing to move it in a simple way a manipulator technique is like a remote control toy, while what hisoka was doing is closer to like a hand moving the object nen is an extetion of yourself that all can interact with the environment

Another point to note, transmutors are liars and fickle - the treasures become trash to them in a minute. In my personal opinion, This points to Silva(killua’s Dad) prediction of how he knows killua will return back to zoldyck’s.

Has anyone suggested that they watch episode 1 of he 1999 ver. or read chapter 1 of the manga yet? If not, please do! It's kinda important. At least I wish I had read/watched it before finishing the 2011 anime.

Also, yeah, Hisoka is not necessarily a pedophile. He's attracted to strong people and gets off on fighting them. It's a common misconception. It doesn't matter to him what their age or sex is, as long as they're strong, and as long as he gets to kill them. And no, Transmuting is changing the properties of your aura. A Manipulator technique controls an object. His aura is not an object. He gave the properties of gum and rubber to his aura. It's as he said when talking to Machi. It doesn't matter if people know about his ability, because it's so flexible that it's still equally effective. I think the more amusing part of the personality test was the fact that Hisoka admits that, like a blood type personality test, it's "just as unreliable". He basically says it has the same level of accuracy as the horoscope. So it doesn't actually mean anything.

I believe that is a thing with nen, the more simple the ability is ; it has more potential and flexibility. If you make it complicated it can be incrediblly overpowered, but very limited in use. Like you know who's abilities.

SOS bros... first.. Really appreciate for the good length and quality discussion in the video. Time for throw back hints: 1. Hisoka in hunter exam arc used to build “pyramid of cards” and destroy it when completed. This was hinting at his character trait which was referenced back in this episode. 2. In hunter exam, snake charmer “barbon” and bee user “ponzu” are manipulator type hatsu. 3. All the members who passed the exam.. where kept tabs on and the nearest pro-hunter will choose to take up the task of training the newbie hunters. Hence the nen teachers showing up conveniently
