I became a $5 patron after seeing you guys react to Episode 2 just so I could see your reactions to Episode 3 right away. I love this show, but your discussions about it have made me love it even more. It's beautiful, creative, and wonderfully complex - it truly does "talk up" to the audience, and I appreciate that immensely. Seeing you guys get so excited over the world-building and theorizing about some of the larger-scope conflicts that could crop up in this show reminded me of how excited I was when first seeing it. I reaaaaally want to discuss it at length with you guys, if possible, but I also don't want to spoil anything either, so while there's so much more I'd like to say, I'll leave it at this for now.

2017-12-30 08:25:38 +0000 UTCOne thing I've liked watching this alongside you guys, is that Chise being the main character doesn't feel bothersome or like you're being dragged down by not focusing more on Elias. A lot of times when the main character is depressed or has a tragic backstory, it's not done as well as it should be oftentimes. Either because the person is unlikable or their depressed state isn't justified well enough. But showing in such a raw way the things that make Chise depressed, and getting the different viewpoints from other beings and people she comes across, I don't get that feeling like I'd rather learn more about another character.

It's so refreshing to see Ancient Magus Bride with this plot that don't need to be related to fights or enemies, it's just story and beauty <3 I had so many good moments watching this anime, hope you guys do too.

So I totally relate to your reaction to this episode, Caleb. I recently bought the soundtrack (it was released in Japan on the 20th and I ordered it overseas), and have been enjoying the hell out of it.

2017-12-30 01:46:27 +0000 UTCIt's so sad that Chise wishes she was dead. Because I've been there before too, and I know that feeling. So her character really hits close to home. "The living should not envy the dead." But in the end, she was envious regardless.
