The funny thing is Ozen is probably the nicest White whistle other than Liza. Im just waiting for season 2 and Prushka...

Irimu

Johan Larsson

Thank you so much ! :)

Clare

Usually around 1pm CST

Kamolak

You’re probably getting bored of me asking this but I can’t help myself, what time will hunter x hunter be coming out today?

Clare

I know that everyone is ganging up on you guys in regards to your stance on Ozen, and I can understand where they are coming from. You get a more complete look at Ozen in the next coming episodes. However, I also can say that she definitely leaves a dark taste in your mouth as her first impression. And first impressions are VERY hard to get over. (It's the reason that I still have no love for Bakago no matter how much MHA fans try to keep touting him...) There is a fine line where "tough love" can turn into "child abuse" and you have to really know where the intentions of the person is in that moment and what they tried to accomplish with their actions. It also, in this case, has to be taken into account with the world they are in. Honestly, a majority of the actions taken by adults in this world, would be completely considered abuse in our own. Also, there is the fact that Ozen didn't really try to teach first, rather going straight to a "tough love" approach. This can definitely rub many people the wrong way, especially if child abuse is a hot button issue for you. To me, tough love is a last resort. It should only be used if the student can't learn by any other means. Not everyone agrees with this, but while I learn and can accept Ozen's character in THIS context, I know that in the real world, she would be someone that I would never allow my children around.

Aizawa and Ozen would get along great. http://memes.ucoz.com/_nw/29/81397034.jpg

I can't understand your issue with Ozen, you draw the comparison to creating a Sith apprentice and say "but that's not what they are" clearly implying that you don't think they should get this treatment. Are you saying they would be better off without a preview of the future brutality? Ozen clearly is trying to mold them for what's to come, you have acknowledged that she isn't a villain, so where exactly is your issue with her trying to toughen them up? She very clearly was holding back against the both of them, she literally hit Riko with one finger. The logic of this world when you go into the abyss is very clearly, Cave Raider > Child, sugar coating it's atrocities to anybody is pointless. If they want to have a chance of making it anywhere, they need to know what they are up against. comparing our morality to theirs is a fallacy in itself considering their environment and what they are constantly facing in the abyss. Sure she has a shitty personality but that's the furthest her maliciousness goes. If you vilify Ozen than the same logic needs to be applied to everybody who lets the children cave raid in the first place. I don't mean to come off as rude, I just think you are misinterpreting her intentions and her character, that's all.

Kyle

I agree with most of the opinions here that this was Ozen's tough love. Riko has most certainly been immature and conceited up until this point, basically surviving through plot armor. Some real world treatment of children are far worse than what Ozen has done to our two main protagonist even in first world countries. A small thing to note was that Riko 'went' to Ozen as well; Ozen warned them from the start; "you may follow me if you are interested; if not just forget about everything you've seen yesterday." Also this is a different world / society and thus should not be judged with the lenses of ours. If it was the case, then the entire society of Orth is just as heinous as Ozen as they literally brainwash kids to performing child labor in a very high risk environment with little care of their lives. I do feel that there is bit of a double standard here. Riko herself is being selfish to achieve her own goals and tarnishing the reputation of an academy / agency (the orphanage), and Reg should not have been encourage such irresponsible behavior. It's like allowing a 12 year old kid to leave home to explore the wild. That's why we shouldn't judge based on the morals of our world. You're seeing it as Ozen brutalizing two children. The moment these two went into the Abyss; they are cave raiders FIRST, and children SECOND, and thus such eyeopening experiences should be prioritized rather than protecting the innocence of children.

Ashalesth

"who's reg?" *war flashbacks*

Murabitoman

Oh, also, Thousand-Man Sedges (or "Thousand Pins") inserted in 120 points all over her body. Each one provides superhuman strength, speed, and longevity individually. (Perhaps as much as a thousand men???) She was holding WAY back against Reg. Way, way, WAY back.

Princess Paladin

take it easy~

gimmic

Okay, I watched to the end (had to skip part of the middle because you were talking about the details of a series I haven't seen yet, so no idea how much I missed there). Most of what I would have said has been said by others, and what else I would have said would probably make you unhappy. So I'll skip that. But I will say that Ozen didn't even backslap Riko. She used a single finger.

Princess Paladin

You guys are making no sense to me. You've mentioned how different this world and the context is, but for some reason comment with a 1st world country's logic. This is ridiculous lol. What's weird about your reactions is that when you decide someone's a villain with your false expectations, you stick with that view.

Damiester

Jacob @23:55 : we see the robot, which makes me very excited.. oya oya... i'm also excited lol

Charles Casem

Hoo boy. This one was rough. Many questions are raised by this episode. From here on out, full length reactions and commentary would be amazing, but I know that probably won't happen.

cinna

Ozen is <3

Princess Paladin

same here, they are not ready to #PraiseTheDAWN yet lol

Charles Casem

Ozen's verbal abuse was to get them riled up and see her as an enemy for her test. Not saying what she said was incorrect but how she said it was meant to scare Riko and incite Reg to stop her. She wanted them to protect themselves from a potential threat. Riko isn't even meant to be down there. There's a reason any red whistle going past the 1st layer is considered suicide. Their consent to it isn't a factor in the abyss unless they are voluntarily suicidal. Ozen is their first "threat" and if this is how they approach this then any reason they are still alive later is simply luck. And as Ozen said, the primeval creatures down there are far more cunning and powerful than she is. So if they can't handle Ozen when she's holding back (only knocking Riko out and not immediately killing her) and some verbal abuse then they aren't fit for the rest of the horrors, it was the minimum of what was necessary.

Elaine Kay

oya oya

Charles Casem

Exactly my thoughts!

Clare

Oh wow I didn't expect you to react this strongly, this early. If you guys are this stressed out now, good luck later.

SuperTallBird

Ozens just doing tough love. Notice how she barely tapped Riko when she knocked her away. She coulda killed Riko likkity split. I think for all Ozens moaning about abominable pieces of flesh and inhuman beast she still cares in her own way. But after 50+ years of dealing with idiots getting themselves killed down in the abyss she, of course, doesn't care to put up any kind of airs on how she feels or hold back on what needs to be done. Its no different from a bird pushing its chicks out the nest to encourage them to fly. Lets not forget that Ozen doesnt owe them either. Shes already put in alot of effort saving Riko 12 years ago. Now shes conceited to help them even more, so if she wants to beat up on Reg a little bit to satisfy her curiosity about his physiology for herself I dont see much wrong with that. Lets not forget that Riko burnt, beat, stuck poles up the butt of, and shocked Reg once she found him to find out how he ticked.

Keep watching, it's only going to be more interesting

Alexis

Oh no, wait :P That's not what i mean. I've heard only positive things, i've seen people absolutely loving this series, it's world, designs, characters and plot. It made me expect A LOT and then i was kinda... shot down? By what i got, i mean. Sorry for any misunderstandings :P

Anonimowy Gaal

I'd rather have best dad as my mentor.

SuperTallBird

Thats the first time ive seen someone disliking it after hearing what it was about but i respect your opinion my friend.

Fujishiro

I understand your opinion but I don’t agree with it, yes there kids but they are to navie, especially Riko, they need to harden up to survive. Survival is more important is this world rather than worrying about consent and them getting treated right.

Clare

Aw, you didn't notice both Reg and Lyza using "irredeemable"!

Burooj Ahanger

I have to say though... i don't really understand your opinion about Ozen. I mean i do understand what you've said, but i was pretty upset through the entire show until this exact point. I was upset, because Riko was so ignorant and thoughtless, so unready to go to the Abyss and despite all of this she went there. Without even half of required experience or knowledge needed to actually survive. She was pretty naive. I would expect teenagers in our world (because SHE IS actually 12, she only looks like a little kid) to act like this, but when i think about all these things they've been seeing everyday while growing, i just can't help myself. I would've nothing against Riko's behaviour if she really was 6 or eight, as her appearance indicates, but in this case i had a lot of issues. Ozen was basically me beating Riko mentally and Reg physically for naivety and carelessness. I can't even dislike her. I mean, i wouldn't like her to be my mom in OUR world, but she's totally amazing in THEIR. And BTW, because it took me too long anyways - do you generally dislike villains when they do something brutal or inhuman? Cuz i remember you hating Dio with a fiery passion when he killed Jojo's dog, but i have a feeling you've grown attached to him. And you certainly liked Makishima too. Could you explain it to me, if you have time or if you don't think i'm just writing some gibberish?

Anonimowy Gaal

Ozen is the best!! I much rather have her as a mentor than any other cave rider.

Roma

Please be patient and wait for them to see it for themselves.. it's no fun if you spoil it :/

Zacke

I hope you'll like Ozen more after the next episode. Yea, she's messed up, but all she did was for their own good. And about calling Riko a slab of meat, she doesn't do it because she wants to, you'll see.

What did you hear about it that made you enjoy it less?

SmilePlease

Oh yeah :D I don't enjoy MiA as much as i wanted to after what i've heard about it, but it's SO MUCH BETTER with you around!

Anonimowy Gaal

Enfin !
