Right now Gon is 13. Its been over a year since Gon left Whale Island. The hunter exam takes place annually on January 7th. During the Greed Island arc new years passed and Killua had to leave to take the exam. So that puts us at least a year later.

It has been stated that Phagogenesis is something exclusive only to the Chimera Ant Queen, no other Chimera ant has that, the rest of the chimera ants have to fuck in order reproduce. And the whole "the more nen users the King eats the stronger he gets" is also a natural ability exclusive only to the King, most likely it's some sort of derivative from the Queen's Phagogenesis, but it's not his Hatsu ability.

Chimera Ants don't get stronger by eating, period. Queens give birth to stronger offspring by consuming other organisms, yes, but that's it.
