Heh, where do you think the author of HxH was inspired from to write battles of wits. The author is a fan of Araki and took inspiration from JoJo. What you've seen of Stands so far has been early experimentation with a new idea. Part of the reason why JoJo's is a legendary series is how smart the Stand battles are for most of the series.

2018-08-26 01:30:09 +0000 UTCWeird translation difference. Crunchyroll version says Hermit Purple can read minds, not "can spy on us". Him dying doesn't prevent Hermit Purple from spying, so that makes a lot less sense than dying to keep his mind from being read.
