Spoilers galore. Overlord isn't trapped in a game. Every 100 years ppl who were online have been teleported to this world. The "Overlord" is the most recent. Its why the world resembles a game previous people built the governments, made the adventures guild, and taught the world magic. This doesn't get hinted at until season 2 which imo made the anime a lot more fun.

If the new season of overlord has no budget to you I would hate to see what a good budget looks like. Yes, it uses some cg but that is part of the times. It is sad that people now a days think that if every moment is not full of, "sakuga," that the budget is bad. Come back with those complaints when you've lived through anime from the late '80s early '90s. Your eyes and ears have not bled enough until you have sat through a US Manga Core dub from that era.

The creators were paying homage to late 80s anime with the art and animation style, because the Japanese recognize that as their golden era for anime, where as a nation they had a lot of pride in their skills as creators of animation and created every work, no matter how small to look gorgeous and be the best that it could be, but it was unsustainable after their economy crashed.

Interesting. I prefer TTGL to KLK as well, but I do think KLK does have some solid depth and character development. Are said categories better than TTGL? No, not quite, but I still found them to be quite satisfactory.

I watched them (at least in part) and was not able to enjoy them. GTO is not my kind of humor. After 3 Episodes I quit Monster I tried for longer but I think after 11 or 12 Episodes I quit. I just couldnt get myself to watch those animes, cant tell you exactly why. For me it was just boring and/or I didnt care about the characters. Maybe it is because at some point I started disliking Animes with an older Artstyle. Which is why I didnt watch Cowboy Beebop, or rather I actively avoided shows like that. NGE also was bs to me. The last few episodes made no sense at all... Then i never liked other popular animes like Ranma or Berserk. I stated in another comment that i watch anime for over a decade now and maybe im just starting to get fed up with certain types of anime. Rewatchability became a very important aspect for me. Shows like Kill la Kill had nearly no value in that regard to me. I never ever touched that anime again after watching it. I even forgot about it completely until this poll happened. I rewatched a bunch of anime, even naruto is thanks to filler (or rather thanks to the fact that you can skip them) a high value rewatchable anime. I love the SOS Bros but im not going to rewatch an anime with them I almost forgot because it had left nearly no impression in my mind

I think their point is that since the first poll allowed multiple votes, the fact that they won the first poll is only relevant as a qualifier for the second poll. For example, in the first poll I voted KLK and Overlord, but only KLK in the second poll, if we only had one vote in the first poll I would only have gone KLK. This the same vice versa including the other shows on the first poll. So basically, the first poll was scramble for as much votes as possible for two winnners.

Yeah but now think about it, the bros only react to 1 episode per week, so wouldn't a slow paced anime be bad where they get bored easily? Binge watching a slow anime might work and even then it can feel dragged out, now imagine you do 1 episode per week. A slow build up of 4 episodes would equivalate to a month of barely anything happening. Because of this I think kill la kill makes more sense for the bros, since each episode would be quite the ride for them and would give them enough episode content to react to / talk about.

Sometimes you don't need a "surprise twist" to have a good story. Lord of the rings has a simple straight forward plot. It is a good story due to world building, character interactions and lore. Overlord has those (albeit not as well as the source, but the same can be said about Berserk.) Sounded a little hostile upon re-review. Changed for good feels.

Shion, it's almost as if expressing anything nowadays will trigger at least someone. Just because I sound slightly demanding doesn't make me the biggest asshole in the world, you do realize that right? As far as I know the animes they are currently reacting to are: Monster, Attack on Titan, Berserk, Haikyuu, JoJo, Great Teacher Onizuka, HunterxHunter, Your Lie in April, My Hero Academia. . That's 9 animes, with the open slot for this poll, so 10 animes in total. One episode is usually about 25 minutes maximum, and most of their discussion portions are around maximum 45 - 50 minutes, so lets just say that watching the entire episode and recording the discussion takes 1 and a half hours. By 10 animes that's a workload of 15 hours per week, if they worked monday through friday then that would be a work load of 3 hours per day, so weekend off and each day only 3 hours of work, and this work consists of watching anime and talking about the episode. Their "work" is essentially the equivalent of watching stuff you like on youtube (for an hour top) and then talking about it for at MOST 2 hours. So a day consists of waking up, eating something, watching anime for 1 hour, talking about the anime for 2 hours, and then doing what ever the fuck you want the rest of the day. And that's assuming they do it monday through friday, they could also just shorten it to 3 days of work, with 5 hours of "work" a day, and the rest of the week you got 4 days off doing NOTHING. And regarding their editors, lets say they got 2 editors, they could give each 1500 dollars a month, and they keep 10'000 for themselves (5000 for each). If you're going to argue back then i HAVE to address real facts and points, and fact is their editor doesn't need to do THAT much work, they have no music overlays, no intros and outros, not a single screen overlay or any kind of text (except the timer, which needs to be made once and then just copy pasted in every time, which is easy too because they just need to pay attention to when they hit the play button), the only work the editor does is the SIMPLEST of cutting, I did shit like that in 8th grade. I myself do photography and cosplay nowadays as a hobby, and that's with working 6 days a week, and I don't get paid for my hobbies. Editing professional photos takes more time and effort than simple time cutting of video clips. So TECHNICALLY speaking their editors could do the easiest half time jobs and additionally do a couple hours of video editing here and there and still earn in total more than most other people for working a decent amount less, and that's if it were 1 editor, if they have 2 that already halves each of their work loads. Also, Jacob and Caleb ONLY do recording work, so they sit there, record, done, they don't edit, so for them even the "work" they do is easy as hell. . I'm not saying they're obligated to do more because they have more patrons, though this poll clearly shows that a good amount of their paying supporters are split in half and each side has a high demand for certain shows. So maybe add another anime, or like I said upload more than 1 episode per week. The reactions are sooooooo slow to finish an anime if they only do 1 episode per week, it feels sluggish. I think people would be much happier if they watched less animes but twice as fast, this way one wouldn't need to wait 3 - 4 months for them to finish a single 12 episode anime, and this wouldn't even change the amount of work they currently have. . "I do think it's wrong to think demanding something from them is justified" It is kind of justified considering this is LITERALLY their job. If their customers, aka their main source of income, have some demands (and this isn't a big demand at all mind you) then it's justified enough. Us supporting and paying them allows them to live a flexible live, have more free time, have a job that barely put's any strain on them, they work from home, they are self employed and can't get fired, they can get decent sleep without worrying too much about it, AND it gives them a really decent wage. The MAJORITY of humans on earth don't have these privileges, so you're saying even though we ARE the source of all these privileges for them we aren't allowed to make ANY demands? What kind of fucked up logic is that. Us having SOME demands is WAY more than justified. Yeah we support them on our own free will, but if none of us did then they wouldn't be living a comfortable life and would have to do this stuff as a hobby like most others WHILE going to a 50 hour per week job. As a comparison example (exaggerated to get the point across better), that's like if I let you live in my big mansion and I gave you 100'000 dollars on top of that per month, and then after half a year I ask you a single time to take out the trash and you flip out and say shit like "how DARE you demand me to work?! WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU ARE JUSTIFIED TO DO SO? HUH?!?!". Like I said, exaggerated example but that's the same message you're conveying right now. As a fan of both series, I have to go with Kill la Kill on this one. The bros would probably quite enjoy Overlord as well, but KLK is essentially the spiritual successor to Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, an amazing show that they have already shown immense love for. KLK also has fantastic characters, themes, plot-twists, comedy, nudity that - most of the time - doesn’t stray into obnoxious fanservice territory and actually has surprisingly impactful narrative and thematic purpose, an epic soundtrack, and gorgeous sakuga that all coalesces into a fantastic ride of a series. My apologies to fellow Overlord fans, but Kill la Kill wins my vote by a landslide.

Except that's exactly the point, "if you don't like it, then don't watch it" which is exactly why people are going crazy. I personally want kill la kill to win, and it's something I REALLY want to watch (their reaction to it). The problem with the way the bros do it is the fact that they only react to 1 episode per week, so that would mean a minimum of 12 weeks of overlord until MAYBE there's a chance to vote for kill la kill again, and there's a good chance that it'll polled against overlord season 2, and then that'll probably win because continuity makes sense. So another 12 weeks overlord, and then maybe season 3 wins cuz why not, so ANOTHER 12 weeks. How about kill la kill first since it's got a finite ending to it's episodes. Also, I know it's more of a personal issue of mine but I honestly don't like most of the animes the bros are watching, but im paying the 10 dollar tier so I can watch full reactions, and I feel kinda bullshitted if I have to pay to watch them react to like 1 anime I like and that slowly. I'm basically paying 2.50 per episode since that's about as many episodes they deliver per month of a single anime. Its not the fact that kirito was OP in the game that made the show bad. He was a betatester and had more experience and knew where to go from the start. Yes, the entire story was inspired from that concept. The Author wrote the story in resemblance to Table-Top-RPG's (like D&D), because his D&D group disbanded due to lack of time to spare, thus he wrote a story resembling his frustration in the form of the MC. It's an amazing story with great world building and unique characters, it has heavy discussion potential, and where most people lose interested in the show I believe SoS Bro's will be able to actually understand the value of multiple-perspectives and side-character development

It's not about the ecchi. It's about the Characters, the style, art and drama. And you say the plot is bland. Yes you could feel thant way. But it's because it use cliches and use it wise. Many shounen manga plot could be flat and bland, KLK is the same. Transfer student, finding the family murderer, trasform fight, ecchi, swords and countless. Also KLK has a lots of parody and hommage and a bunch of 70 ~ 80s Japan reference. You can feel the animators, scriptwriter and Trigger's Passion. I'm keep saying, but I really like Overlord. But if I have to pick one anime? No doubt. KLK(if I includ the Overlord novel, it could win)

I've seen and love both, but Overlord definitely beats Kill La Kill in my book. To me it's the better choice for them considering the world building, mystery behind the main plot, lore, power scaling, and multiple DnD references. It become even better if you read the Light Novel as well

If you haven’t seen either, I’d recommend Overlord. Klk has pretty unique and distinctive artstyle, great animation and soundtrack. But it misses plot, character depth and world building. Also, excessive fan service might be a problem for some people, so be advised.

Well, SAO was very popular as well. Popularity doesnt say anything. Overlord is well written and has great worldbuilding and a decent plot KLK has nice fights and some good comedy but thats it. OK. I do like Overlord. It's a very interesting isekai anime/novel. A main Character being a evil skeleton and a villain(to the human)? That is somthing you call awesome. But to be honest, the animation from madhouse isn't very good. Actually the frist season was made with low budget and it was an unexpectedly huge success. And as everybody knows huge success means a new season. But season 2 wasn't very good as expected. It still had it's low budget quality animation as season 1, skip important Psychological description, bad battle scene and direction, failed Volume control(seriously! why did they give the lizardman part 4+α episode? it only had to had 2 episode). What I'm trying to say is that I really like Overlord. I read the novel when it first came out. I do want the sos bros to watch it too. But to compare with KIL? I don't think so. I won't talk how much KLK is a cool, fun, awsom anime. You should see for yourself. And KLK has only 25 episode. Overlord can have a next time.

It had plenty of emotional and inspiring moments for me, but it also had some weak moments as well. Same goes for Overlord. And I'll agree with you on the aspect that the greatest masterpiece, though with the future being a factor nothing will truly ever be "the greatest," has its flaws. As for what you call facts, which I will agree to some like the pacing, can be considered subjective like how I see the fanservice in KLK just being fanservice and you doing the same with Overlord. Battle of the overhype! I like both shows but I always see them praised more than they probably should be. Kill la Kill is a fun fighting anime but other than the cool fight scenes it doesn't have much else to offer (Also fanservice is fanservice, yes they make it represent something in the anime but in the end of the day it's still for views). Overlord builds a fantasy world that is interesting but not overly unique, what really sells it is the point of view being from the OP end bosses of a MMO. It certainly has some issues with what it try's to focus on, nobody cares about the lizards, no body cares about the goblins, yet they spend multiple episodes on them. I ended up going for Overlord because I feel it would create better discussion instead of 'wow that was a cool fight scene'. I realize Kill la Kill isn't just fight scenes but understand that it is a good chunk of it and I'm more interested in world-building discussion rather than talking about how well made the fight scene was.

I've repeatedly stated that I watch both and would recommend both, but just because both meet the standards for what I'd spend time watching doesn't mean they are equal in my eyes or anyone elses. I'm not the one who opened up with a statement that infers that KlK is poorly written. Stating facts about the series length, pacing, and its power fantasy nature is not me calling it trash. I'm a fan of both, and KlK is miles more coherently and tightly written than Overlord is with very little that doesn't have some significant themes or connection to the main plot or characterization going on. Yes, even the fanservice which it is actually a spoiler to get into describing why its in there since its revealed to be a central part of the plot after you get past the start of series. Meanwhile in Overlord you have what amounts to outright fanservice pandering that serves no purpose to the plot and has minimal effects on character development if it has any reason to exist at all.

I voted Overlord, the LN is much better but I'd still put it miles above KLK. I dropped KLK super quickly, getting through the episodes felt like a chore and I don’t recall particularly liking ANY of the characters. (no flame pls) Overlord puts a good emphasis on their world building, showing the perspective of other organisations and individuals to see how they react to a godlike being getting dropped in their world. Moreover, I find it great to see Ainz interact with those in Nazarick, desperately trying to maintain his facade of being a powerful and competent leader, despite feeling like anything but, thus leading to comedic moments. A few reasons off the top of my head as to why you should vote for Overlord: -You’ll get to see arrogant assholes get put in their place. -An MC who values his comrades above all, who’s willing to slaughter his enemies without mercy if benefits his comrades. -No bullshit power of friendship, where you’ll get stronger just because your friends are in trouble. -Good worldbuilding, you’ll get to explore the new world in which Ainz finds himself in. -Tons of characters, you’ll definitely find someone you like. -Cool RPG-esque story, giving the bros plenty that they’re familiar with to talk about, given their love for dnd. -Sasuga Ainz-Sama Disclaimer: I'm intentionally neglecting to mention Overlords faults; I’m trying to promote it after all! Voted Kill la Kill this round, since I figured it would be a more stable and consistent experience than Overlord. IMO, Overlord as a series has many highs, but also many lows, and its highs never really reach the level that Kill la Kill’s do. Furthermore, Kill la Kill's only mediocre at its worst moments, whilst some moments of Overlord bored me to death (I'm looking at you, lizard man arc.) The protagonist also gets left offscreen for long stretches at a time as other shit in the world happens, sometimes involving his minions and sometimes not. You get all this buildup but then all of that investment goes on hold regularly. It's a bit hard to enjoy a show that's main draw is the power fantasy when you just ditch that self insert power fantasy character for episodes at a time to focus on the mating habits of white lizards or whether one of his butlers is going to get laid.

Yeah, it's a self contained story with all loose ends wrapped up. There's no risk that any part of the story thats been teased or left open for later will go unanswered because the novel or anime gets cancelled, you're guaranteed to experience the complete vision of the writers. It also doesn't tie you down with the expectation that you're going to be watching the new season every year until its done, so it's less of a 'slot hog' for these guys than Overlord would be.
