It's a play on words/kanji that the official translations miss out on, I believe. Just replying here in case I can make the explanation a little clearer: 戦意 = "Sen-i" = "fighting spirit" 繊維 = "Sen-i" = "fiber" They take the second kanji of "fiber" and replace the second kanji of "fighting spirit" with it to make 戦維 (still "sen-i", since the reading of both of the words/kanji are the same). 喪失 = "Soushitsu" = "loss" So, it's "loss of fighting-spirit/fiber".

Yeah through it really depends on if it gets on the poll. As much as the themed polls are a neat idea, it can keep popular shows from winning. Also kind of worried Steins;Gate 0 will win over it, I've been meaning to watch it but I would really prefer Overlord at the current point.

When Matoi strips of the opponent the talking uniform(Senketsu) says SENISOUSHITSU("Stripped" of the will to fight)[戰維喪失]. But the Character actually means "Stripped" of the 'clothes' to fight. It's a pun because in Japanese, "will to fight(戰意)" and "clothes to fight(戰維)" pronounce the same. But.....there isn't a word called "clothes to fight(戰維)" actually. It's just a word they made up...

Even though I was really hoping for Overlord, I don't mind that this won. As long as Overlord gets good representation in the three upcoming polls in 6, 7 and 8 weeks (Due to Your Lie in April, Haikyuu!, and Violet Evergarden approaching their end) then I'll be happy.

Oh please, it's nothing like the silly "Eotens" thing. It's just that Underwater actually translates some of the terms/kanji in the show, whereas CR and such just leave the things in question (Goku, Kamui, etc.) untranslated. You may learn to recognize the untranslated word in the context of the show like that, but doing things the CR way also means that the viewer gets no insight into what the actual meaning of the words (or the kanji in them) can be. The Underwater subs aren't incorrect, it's just a matter of preference. Plus, the Underwater typesetting is far better than anything CR has to offer.

The subtitles you're using are hmmm, reminds me of the early AOT subtitles where they called Titans "Eotenas", change it and get the subtitles that has Goku Uniforms instead of "Godrobes"

I dunno, Overlord's first episode is a cool introduction as well imo. Though I do agree that Kill la Kill's first episode is probably one of the best ever made so Overlord's pales in comparison and seems really bad when compared to this.

Kill la Kill is one of the few shows I won't recommend to people. but despite me not liking it I'm glad you guys enjoyed it. Hopefully you guys get the twitch channel up and running soon so I can enjoy the Berserk/One Piece read throughs instead. <3
