Please give it a shot, guys who haven’t voted yet, it’s 11 episodes long and bloody amazing, you won’t regret choosing it (and on the 0.01% chance that you do, it’ll be out of your skin faster than any other show out there). As for the art, because there’s a guy here who genuinely hates it (and you’ve doubtless heard from others too), do you think I and the 20 other people cheering for it in the comments would even be here doing this if the art’s actually such a dealbreaker?? It's weird and misshapen and ugly, yes, but 1. I think you’ll get used to it pretty quickly and 2. it’s refreshingly unique and suits the show brilliantly, giving it a style that’s completely its own. Ping Pong isn’t so much a sports anime as it is a story about growing up, and all the pain and joy and frustration that comes with it. I laughed and cheered and cried watching this, and binging it left me happily drained afterwards. Awesome show.

Hey... We can't lose hope just yet... Some time ago I didn't think a show like Monster could ever win a poll, but look where we are. Rakugo most likely has less fans (or just less people have actually watched it), but after seeing Monster win, I can't help but think that some day there could be a chance for Rakugo as well. That being said, Rakugo is currently last, and even Anohana has more votes... *sob*

I don't think it looks disgusting at all! In fact the visuals is one of the reasons why I loved watching this show so much. I realize that it's your opinion, and I'm not trying to undermine it in any sense but I think the choice to make the characters drawn like that was to reflect how the show presented its characters. All the characters in Ping Pong are very, very flawed, and the show primarily focuses on these flaws and how they grow from them. I think the art style reflects this idea, but that's just my 2 cents on the topic. Feel free to agree or disagree.

Pffffffft, well animated my ass! It's rotoscoping, ofc it would look fluid, it is the nature of the technique! But. The characters are intentionally made not just ugly, but disgusting. "Artistic choice", "director's vision", yada, yada. I don't care. I've been watching anime for a very long time and seen a fair share of "bad shows", but this is the only one I can't watch due to it's visuals.

So much people dismiss Ping Pong because of the art and it irks me to no end. Just because the characters don’t look like perfect pretty boys or kpop stars doesn’t mean its a bad looking show. The visual presentation and directing in Ping Pong is phenomenal, and is probably one of the most consistently well animated shows I have ever seen. The show presents its characters in a very real and visceral way, and the way they are drawn reflects that. It kind of reminds me of Mob Psycho when people kept saying the show looked ugly, but when they actually watched it realized how visually impressive it was.

The amount of people who ive seen judge ping pong solely on its art and animation makes me want to blow my brains out. The fact that the show has an 8.6+ rating with so many people like that should be enough to tell you how good the writing/themes etc are. Ping Pong's author uses a combination of the Franco-Belgian comic style to evoke a keen emotional response during certain expressions. It's there for an artistic appeal (since when was artsy considered disgusting?), but also because it fits the narrative. Deliberately voting against shows that aren't mainstream while ignoring every single aspect other than the art is just shallow to say the least.

It’s not about ping pong at all, it uses ping pong as a vessel to discuss themes of talent, competition, and motivation. Reminds me a bit of Haikyuu, except shorter and tighter narratively. It’s very good.

I don’t think they’d like it. Overpowered main character who isn’t Saitama + lots of dialogue and exposition in a tell-don’t-show way, I don’t think they’d enjoy it. They can barely handle or even dislike the narrator at times in Hunter x Hunter, so I’d say it’d be a bad fit for them.

Comparing to something like Rakugo, it isn’t, really. It’s just one of those artsy shows, that gain traction due to going “against mainstream” in some fashion (animation and art style, in this case). Personally, I can’t stomach it, as it intentionally makes character designs look disgusting for “shock value” and I don’t find that appealing.

It’s better for them not to double or triple up on show slots. More variety means a higher chance of new or varied viewers. Great, land of the lustrous is incredible and has deep character depth and is considered the best looking cgi anime to date, and some of the animes would be nice if they won (like for the people waiting for steins gate), and then once again people are voting for ping pong, just wow. Almost kind of want ping pong to win just so its out of the way.
