Violet Evergarden had a comeback in the last lil bit to overtake 3-gatsu last time and I'm still scared over here ( Dream Scenario is still both getting reactions, but that's a silly pipedream) Also does anybody know If both Jacob and Caleb have seen Chihayafuru ? I know Jacob loves it to pieces, but I'd be awesome to see them both react to S3 in Apri 2019 <3

Just to torture myself further (and out of curiousity), I went back to look for the exact date Rakugo appeared on a SoS poll for the first time. It was a little over a year ago, on a 4k milestone poll created on October 23, 2017. (shoutouts to all fellow Rakugo voters that are here since then!) Out of the 10 shows featured back then, 6 of them were watched by bros as of now. It's the 8th time this show appears on a poll. Anohana is the second most unfortunate here, first appearing on the poll from December 25, 2017. It's Anohana's 7th time here, making it one of the veterans. Plastic Memories first appeared on the same poll as Anohana, but was only up for voting in 2 after that. 3-gatsu first appeared on a poll from August 9, 2018, it's its second time here. The rest are newcomers. My heart goes out to you, hardcore Anohana fans! I feel your pain and your dedication, and wish you all the luck in future polls! If there will be time when Anohana is super close to victory (and Rakugo isn't on the same poll :p), you can count my vote in, because you guys have been through enough~

*sigh* Well, I guess Sangatsu is going to win. Can't say I'm too disappointed, because after Rakugo it's the best show out of the bunch for me... It's a very important story, and a special one for me, since it hits really close to home. And really, both 1st and 2nd place shows are so good that this struggle was basically "wich one of these two best things am I going to see"? It's just... Maan, I can't help but feel just a liiittle bitter. How long has Rakugo been in these polls? It seems like forever. Each time it falls behind something more popular. There's always next poll, yes, it's just I can't help but feel hopeless. *sigh* Oh well. It's good that it's Sangatsu it's going to lose to - I need that kind of story to lift my spirit right about now. :P Fantastic, dramatic, tense race!

Sorry, I don’t understand? Sangatsu was always close behind Rakugo then pulled even and now has been ahead for around 2 days already by various margins (from +5ish to +16ish).

I get what you mean about Sangatsu suddenly jumping ahead, I noticed it too (since I have nothing better to do, apparently, other than check how this poll is going every few hours), buuuuut... I seriously doubt it's due to anything suspicious. Rakugo jumped forward a lot at some point, a day or two ago, too - doesn't mean people messed with multiple accounts. I think it's just a natural flow of fans. ¯ \_(ツ)_/¯

March Comes in Like a Lion is on the poll. I am literally crying. I can't think of any other anime that have that kind of emotional impact-- let alone a largely positive one. And yet, it's definitely an extremely strong, dramatic story. My only possible point of comparison is Steins;Gate, of all things, as both have a strong theme that seems like it will comprise the bulk of the plot, and yet the actual story turns out to be as much about the slice of life relationships of a small group of people that vacillates suddenly between cheerfully heartwarming and horrifyingly stressful. Steins;Gate has the stronger twists and the most satisfying ending in all of anime, of course, but March Comes in Like a Lion hits far closer to home with the problems that arise... while still making you smile at the end of the day. So, if you flipped the cheerful optimism and looming dread of The Lie I Told in April, March Comes in Like a Lion is like... looming cheer despite a pervasive tone of... hm... it's really difficult to get into the specifics of why it's so impressive without speaking a word of the plot. In any case, absolutely nothing against Rakugo-- absolutely the most brilliant historical anime I've ever seen. But... well, it's a supremely /interesting/ anime, with very interesting characters, moreso than an anime that provokes the sort of emotional responses that lend themselves to reaction. Definitely a criminally underrated masterpiece... but it's more of an interesting anime to show someone that it exists (and how well it's done), than to really watch along with them, as I see it. Seriously, take a look at 3-gatsu no L... er, "March Comes in Like a Lion". I can't recall the last time I was that genuinely enthralled by an anime. It's the only anime I've actively made someone watch to help with their depression, as it certainly did for mine... that, and keep in mind that Rakugo is apt to be a bit more difficult for them to record, as the nearly hour-long episodes will be hard to work with on Youtube. Edit: Actually, I mentioned it before, but The Lie I Told in April is definitely a close comparison that comes to mind. Both are ostensibly about a sort of profession (music and shogi, respectively), but are much moreso a story about the people involved... except, well, no, it's not at all like that because it's... hm... nope, can't think of a way to explain without spoiling something about one or the other, damn. Nevermind that, then. Though, I will say that if you like one, you're almost certain to like both.

Not spamming, just want to get Rakugo more votes: Do you know those shows or stories in general that when you heard the name of it, the first thing that comes to your mind is not about the plot, the storyline, the characters, etc, but how you enjoy the ride when watching or reading it so you will think “Oh, yeah! That’s a fantastic show/read!” Yep, Rakugo is one of them. Because to tell the truth, I almost forgot any aspect of Rakugo except that it’s about storytelling 😂 but boy I still remember that feeling until now.

Don’t get me wrong, I watched Sangatsu no Lion and also read the manga. I totally love the sisters, the youngest is my all time favorite. However they didn’t appear much in the beginning of Season 2 though, which is very disappointing for me. Rei + sisters = great, it gives me warm fuzzy feelings watching it Rei alone with his wallowing thoughts = he’s depressed, I’m depressed, we’re all depressed

This show means so much to me, it’s one of my favourite shows ever and I love the characters sm... it’s listed as a show about Shogi (and the MC, Rei, learning to deal with his depression and grow as a person) but tbh it uses shogi more of a framework to showcase its fantastic characters (the way Haikyuu is technically a volleyball show but it’s imo it’s really about the lovable chars :) ). It has some of my favourite moments in anime ever, a beautiful pastel artstyle, and Rei Kiriyama is one of my fave MCs <3 His characterisation and growth are nothing short of phenomenal. Shoutout to the Kawamoto sisters too, who make my day every time they appear on screen ^^

For anyone looking for an opposing viewpoint, Sangatsu no lion made me so freaking happy. It’s starts out as a show about Rei’s depression and his shogi playing, but evolves into SO MUCH MORE. It’s cast is all so amazing and loveable, the Kawamoto Sisters especially make me smile till my cheeks hurt!!! It delves into weighty issues with remarkable compassion and empathy, and watching characters grow and endure so much and come out smiling at the end of it all means so much :))
