@Aliye I totally get you. They did have to explain before that by "they," they meant the whole staff lol I also didn't understand why people were so up in arms about it (maybe it was just a vocal minority). Either way, I understand what you mean. I was taught never to speculate on the author's intentions (or bring him up in any way) when analyzing any form of literature/art. I think it used to bug me, too, but in the end I probably just got used to it and realized they're reactors and nowhere near academics writing a thesis lol Them bringing up the creators sometimes does make them sound pretentious in a way, but I do honestly believe they at least aren't consciously trying to sound like that they're better than the guy.

I would say thats just the hard thing for those doing critical reviews in general - you aren’t better than the original creator but have to comment as if you know better. There is no other way to write/record a review!

Welfin's introduction in Anime and Manga is the same, buddy. Either way I don't understand their problem with Welfin's introduction and "it's timing" as he was always there in the background with Leol. My biggest problem with the bros is that they keep throwing half assed criticisms without really elaborating or clearly explaining their complaints.

→Sen Ogino Well honestly I myself don’t really know what exactly my problem is with their using the name. And I didn’t know people complained about them saying “they”. I wonder why that is. Sure the story was written by one man but what they’re watching right now IS a product of multiple people’s efforts after all. I understand it’s impossible to satisfy everyone and hate to be one of those unsatisfiable people but maybe it’s not about how they call them, it’s about the very idea of trying to read the creator’s mind. I’m not sure but maybe in my opinion you can talk about the story, analyze whatever you want, but cannot bring the creators into it. “The product is already presented. The creator’s job is done. They shouldn’t be involved in anymore” is probably what my brain decided to think. Doesn’t make any sense, I know. Or more simply maybe I’m just not happy because the discussion didn’t go the way I want it to go, although there’s really no any way that I want the discussion to go... I don’t know. I’m just rambling. Just ignore me. I’m like Meruem in 105, frustrated because I don’t understand my own mind either.

tl;dr I don't think so. Eh, I don't really feel a sense of superiority coming from them. When they used to praise the show in the earlier arcs, the bros would use "they," and people used to be vocal about telling them, "There's just one author and his name is Togashi!!!!! tHe GoD oF sToRyTeLLiNg reeeeee!" Now, they know his name, so it makes sense that they'd also use his name when critiquing the show or speculating on his storytelling choices. I don't think they're trying to be condescending at all, but maybe it just comes across as that because they're writers and they have their own preferences and opinions on what would make a good story. They just don't preface every opinion of theirs with, "I think" or "In my opinion," and that's fine. This is me disagreeing with some of what they say, too. I don't think the Meruem amnesia was a convenient plot twist used to drag things out; it fits in with the whole theme of rebirth and identity, so it totally makes sense. The radiation poisoning critique was somewhat invalid, because they missed Youpi coughing last episode; also, if they thought nukes were a reasonable prediction a dozen eps ago, why is radiation poisoning suddenly an asspull? Even with my gripes on their (sometimes admittedly frustrating) critiques, I still don't think they're projecting superiority. They're at most disappointed, because the story doesn't go they way they want it to go, or confused/intrigued with the direction the story is going.

How do they throw 10 endings to this arc out and one of them be right? This arc is suppose to last the next 15 episodes. They've literally been screaming about nukes since 126. They can't predict shit. Throw enough shit at the wall some of it sticks.

This show is constantly in danger of getting overhyped, but it really is one of the best Shounen anime. You should give it more than 10 episodes.

HxH only had one slot when the bros first started watching it. People were clamoring for a second slot, so it won a poll for second slot. Still wanted more slots, so people were arguing for a third slot pretty seriously (due to the show's length), but it's just become a meme now, since we knew we were never gonna get it (and now, the show's almost over lol).

I think the King was fine since, he technically died. The reason he also is bleeding might be because he was absorbing Pouf and Youpi who had just walked all around the blast radius where they might have taken in all the radiation from the explosion
