well no, what impacts him would be if his mind broke. if his body just dies here he returns by death. the risk is, that if he suffers mental trauma it wont just go away like a physical injury.

46:08 Just to raise a counterargument to Jacob's claim here, it is still an assumption that Subaru got this power upon entry into this world. Right? We, and Subaru, wouldn't know whether he's had this power before entry into the world, because he's never died prior to episode 1 (at least there is no memory of such event). Indeed, if Subaru had this "contract"/connection with Satella prior to entry in the world (maybe his whole life) without his knowledge, that could explain his seemingly random teleportation to this world. I don't know whether this will become relevant at some point, but I really like how Arc 4 (season 2) makes the viewer question a lot of what Season 1 presented.

The Carmilla mechanic wont work. Since Echidna said, if he dies in the dreampalace his soul will be shattered and send back into his body wich would make him disabled (in the best case).

Yea Subaru kinda bugged out the 2nd trial. It was unwinnable for him, because he has so many horrible presents to pick from, which he's constantly getting evac'd from. It's not how that trial is supposed to run.
