To clarify something, in this timeline Ram has not seen or even know about Rem. That was in one of the earlier timelines of the first half of this season.

Me being as blind as you I believe you misinterpreted something. I think it was implying that Minerva was mother fortuna and her past trial made her look more like what she thought she must of looked like. This is supported my mother fortuna constantly stating about how much she takes from her sister in law rather then herself. She also talks about how it was good she kept her promise referring to Emilias promise to Fortuna. I could be wrong but it’s just a theory.

FYI, the ReZero S2 break time shorts also have some extra story bits including a scene that happens with the witches after Emilia left the tea party. You can find them subbed on YouTube. Don't know if you are interested in reacting to them. Note there is 1 break time per episode.

Fun Fact: The oil was actually mentioned as far back as Season 1 - Otto basically bought it just before the price plummeted so it would have put him in debt.
It's part of the reason why he agrees to transport Subaru around in some of the Arc 3 Failed Timelines.
Trying to deal with that debt in the Successful timeline where he isn't approached by Subaru is what ended up leading to his capture by the Witch Cult (which ultimately led to his first 'real' meeting with Subaru).
Just one of those 'throw away' lines from S1 that become important in S2

There have been a lot of amazing episodes of Re:Zero, especially in S2, but this one is hands-down my favorite. The amount of characterization they gave to the whole cast this season pays off in spades here. Subaru’s barely in this episode, and it’s still this amazing. Incredible stuff.
