So glad I found someone into 2.5 here! I was negative about 2.5 at first (because 2D characters are already perfect) but I found that actors/actresses and the production have been putting so much effort to be like the characters and watching stages live is a totally amazing experience. It's quite an expensive hobby (over 7K JPY for regular ticker) so I was so impressed Hanako brought a ticket for Kabakura too.

They're live action stage shows based on various animated media such as games and anime hence the number 2.5! So the Haikyuu stage plays you've watched are 2.5D shows! They're extremely popular and have been around for 15+ years with Prince of Tennis (TeniMyu) and Sailor Moon (SeraMyu) musicals being some of the earlier productions. Mamoru Miyano was in TeniMyu back in the 2000's! And quite a few other seiyuu were in TeniMyu as well! Some of the anime you have watched have a 2.5D version besides Haikyuu such as Hajime no Ippo, Yu Yu Hakusho, MHA, Bungou Stray Dogs, and Run with the Wind! And for games, Persona has some stage plays as well! MHA's first show along with Naruto and Sailor Moon are being legally streamed this month with official English subtitles (which is super rare. There aren't many of those out there. Musical Touken Ranbu has done it once for their Paris performance)! I could go on and on and on about 2.5D so I'll stop there, but this OVA is absolutely wonderful! I love seeing more of Hanako and Kabakura! They're super cute and I'm really glad you enjoyed it as well! I look forward to next week with Nao and Kou!!! And I hope you'll consider watching the third OVA once it's been released and fansubbed because it'll focus on Narumi and Hirotaka!
