Ippo vs. Date, Volg vs. Sendo. I think those were the episodes that really made me a fan of Hajime no Ippo. They show that people can have love, hard work, character, support, determination but still fail. Ippo has all that, and failed. Volg and Sendo have all that, and one of them will fail. It hurts. It's very different from the message we get from most shonen manga. And it takes the discussion about the main topic of the anime (what does it mean to be strong?) to another level, much deeper than we usually see. I'm very happy with your reactions to Ippo vs. Date, and I can't wait to see what you guys think of the next episodes.

2019-12-08 22:03:42 +0000 UTCI love how you can see that Takamura knew that he couldn't deal with Ippo the same way he does with Kimura and Aoki. His heart and spirit are different. He would take Takamura harsh comments to heart and it would irreparably affect him going forward.
