Couldn't agree more, though toxic is a bit far except for a few people. I feel a much better variety of shows and themes could be covered if it wasn't for the whole most popular vote wins system which almost always results in either a basic shounen or current trend (and consequently more often than not forgotten within a year or so) and commonly reacted to show being picked.

Also, as a side note, Dr. Stone's popularity is a bit overstated. It did well in the west due to heavy marketing push from western streaming sites, but in Japan it was barely in the middle, when airing. DVD/BR sales flopped completely (less than 1k units per volume).

It's great in some ways, but really terrible in others, it mostly depends on what you value more. For me, personally, characters are the most important aspect and Dr. Stone has none. Instead it goes for the cardboard cutouts with a single shtick as a replacement for personality. The only parts of it I genuinely enjoyed was about Senku's dad and the stuff happening immediately after him waking up. The rest was painfully mediocre. Oh, but for other people? Stuff happening! Characters run around "questing" all the time! Neat visuals! But these reasons aren't what I'm watching anime for.
