It should be quite clear that Muzan hasn't been found in quite a long time so Tanjiro's appearance did in fact surprise him. I love the deep rooted themes with family within this story. I wonder why they designed Muzan to be like Michael Jackson but it stands out I guess and visually appealing which is a good thing. Muzan's VA does a good job portraying him. That voice just brings chills. No wonder demons fear him. Anyway another great reaction and discussion.
