If they were any less perfect, Yang would've definitely sustained a lot more losses. In the end, strategy of massive wars come second to logistics and personnel selection.

In Hong Kong, we have a population of 7.4 million or so and the protests reached either 200k or 2 million, depending on which report you believe in. Given how the HK police firing barely 20 live rounds altogether in the past year was already enough to completely turn its population against them. Imagine thousands of deaths at a peaceful rally and the backlash of that lol.
