2020-05-27 10:34:59 +0000 UTCYeah, in the transition from manga to anime it becomes difficult to convey somethings like just how much motion is happening during a given timeframe. It would be nearly impossible to build enough force to knock someone into the mat that hard from a halfway standstill like it looked. Miyata didn't just go for a counter like he had before "but even harder this time" he used the jolt counter which mechanically is different and much much riskier.

It "stops" completely more for dramatic effect (was more of a stop last episode). Yes, it was Miyata's whole body behind the counter; the jolt counter. Love these reactions to Hajime no Ippo! <3
