A correction for you Caleb, the blood would go everywhere. It's where you get the term "arterial spray" from. The heart would still be pumping so the blood would be spraying out.

Can you imagine what happens if Mittermeyer or Reuenthal became dictators after they seized the state seal for themselves? Oberstein definitely foresaw this possibility when he made this plan. However in a flat organization structure, the other admirals, being of same rank, will fight them. But if either one of them is the no.2 in the admiralty, there is a high chance many admirals will defect to their side when they see Reinhard (no.1) no longer a capable leader during a time of weakness. It is subtle details like this that makes me admire Oberstein's intelligence, even as everyone else hates him.
