I'll never understand how people can have issues with misgendering, but if someone is misgendered as trans or non-binary when they're nothing of the sort, no one feels the need to correct that, only the other way. Nagisa is a boy who wants to be a boy, and assuming he's not going forward is really inappropriate considering what he went through. As of episode 2 they said they've had it clarified anyway, so it's over now.

Assuming he's non-binary and going into it with that lens just leads to misunderstandings, he's not going through any kind of personal confusion about his gender, that's not what the show is about. His androgyny is used for humor more than anything. The "later" stuff about his hair and whatnot is still under the assumption that he's clearly just a boy.

I hope you guys enjoy this show as much as I do because I can honestly say that it is amazing and the fact it ends is both the best and worst part of it. When I started at first I was just meh on it as it does focus a bit on characters in episodic plots, by the end though I was wishing that we could have more because I grew to love the characters so much! And judging by your discussion (which isn't something I normally sit all the way through) I have a feeling you'll enjoy it as well and perhaps even bring out aspects of the show that I didn't catch to make me enjoy it more! Can't wait for more vids of this and it was well worth paying to see this!

The animation is consistently solid or better, the voice acting is great, the plot is nice and original, all loose ends are tied up and theres nothing plot breaking, and every single character is developed at least a little. It might not be your thing, but to call it bad is an affront to animation.
