At moments of extreme tension and focus (i.e. the immediate moments leading up to a kill or be killed exchange) what seems like a plain old clap in the face is going to be amplified 100x. The knife drop to the clap to the stun-gun all happened in the span of a little under a second. The knife drop is already gonna make you go ??? and with the sudden jolt from the clap it's just enough to make your mind freeze for a second.
