Remember he doesn’t want to be reborn as a God. He wants Bishamon to be reborn so that he can become her new guiding voice. And guide her to act like a “proper God of War” he currently thinks Bishamon has grown soft. Gods and Goddesses as well known as Bishamon don’t “die” they are simply reborn. Kind of like a mixture between Bill Willingham’s Fables and a Time Lords regenerations except they don’t keep their memories of their past life.
